Do you really think that's going to happen? I highly doubt it.

I think people would have better luck trying to persuade Chrysler into releasing something like a "Mopar Performance Parts" tuner that can do everything an aftermarket tuner can do, and then some. Chrysler is missing the boat. They could capitalizing on what aftermarket companies have been for a while.

The problem with this is that as soon as a programmer is released by mopar, everyone will be on it to reverse engineer it.

Done.

I heard perspective that as Fiat gained majority control of Chrysler Corp. They wanted to instill the same mentality that most of the European union holds in regards to after market modifications. They don't like it and do not want it. They view it as if you want mods, you need to get em from MOPAR.

THIS IS VERY DETRIMENTAL TO THE U.S AFTERMARKET INDUSTRY! Representing over $15.6 billion dollars of our economy. As well as customer loyalty.

I have a 03 cobra mustang and if i couldn't tune it there's no way i would have purchased it. Chrysler needs to take a page from Ford and let the customer have what they want.

We'd probably have better luck pettitioning our respective State governments to allow us to mod the computer system and still pass inspection.
I, personally, would not want Chrysler making the tuner. Their stuff, while based on effective aftermarket designs, tends to be more expensive, less effective, and harder to obtain. Plus, they aren't as dependent on sales, so they would take longer to 'fix' any issues that crop up with their tuners. Yet the aftermarket crowd try to stay on top of bug reports to better market their product.
Chrysler.....or any major manufacturer....would be better served to develop a close relationship with these aftermarket companies. By adding their support, they allow the aftermarket companies to better refine their product, and the availability of mods would then make the initial vehicle more saleable. At least when considering the performance and offroad markets and vehicles.

but I will sign it nonetheless. anything to make this anemic 2011 better is worth it.

Keep in mind that in the same aspect, there are aftermarket companies that make OEM performance parts.

If this Bosch ecm catches on in the industry (or at least use it's encryption methods) it could really damage this segment of our economy!

There is nothing illegal with tunning a factory ecm but it would void your warranty.

One of the biggest selling points of this particular vehicle it's it's ability to be modified. Take that away and loyalty will fade as well.

Mopar fans will always be loyal to Mopar. I don't think people will be more willing to buy their product just because they offer it. And especially if your smart enough to realize aftermarket companies make it for them.

I personally will not buy another Chrysler product if they don't change this issue!
