Factory sat radio reception is absolute poo

Does anyone else experience this? I can only listen to sat radio about half the time, and even then it's usually cutting in and out. It's perpetually displaying the message 'ACQUIRING SIGNAL'. I live in a pretty hilly area, but that's no excuse - no other sat radio in any other vehicle has done this. This is on my '12.

I took apart the roll bar stuff to get to the antenna and check the connections there. All looked tight, but I disconnected and reconnected the connectors within reach and checked for continuity.

Yes, I'll take it to the dealer, but my local dealer sucks like a two-bit hooker, so I've been trying to blow it off for about 6 months.

I mostly stream but so I haven't had an issue the few times I have used sat radio.

I will say the buffering sucks. It will cut out for a few seconds just going under a 4 lane over pass, always reconnects though.

Lord, give me patience. I'm afraid that if you give me strength I'll need bail money too.

Sounds like an antenna problem but in the meantime try the old battery disconnect/reconnect trick. I've had problems losing the signal in heavily forrested areas but not in the open. Are there updates available as there are for the MyGig?

Try moving the antenna to the drivers side of the soundbar. It keeps the antenna "centralized" on whatever road you are on and away from trees/hills ect that it would be closer to on the pass side.

Antenna placement sucks! Mine gets noticeably worse when I throw open the sun rider top. I've been too lazy to move it.

Yes try this. I would be lost without my Sirus radio. I have a lifetime package that I switch over when I get something new. If I can't Rock I can't drive 55.

Only time mine cuts out, oddly, is when im getting towards the END of a long overpass or tunnel. here and there when in between a bunch fo tall buildings and in parking garages of course. I wondered where the sat antenna was. i was hoping it WASNT in with the am/fm antenna as I plan on buying one of the much MUCH shorter am/fm antenna's. The stock 6ft thing is friggin horrible looking.

i thought about renewing mine. they were running a free promo last week i think. ran out to fire mine up and all i got was "aquiring signal".

besides. since sirius and XM merged, the sound quality took a dive. Hits1 constantly looses the bass.
