Rampage Sport Rack Fitment

Rampage lists the product as fitting 07-10 but I can't see a reason why it wont fit a 2012. Does anyone have any insight or opinions?

I loved my rack in my '07. Was disappointed to see it wasn't available for my '12.

Would also like to know if anyone has tried this rack on a '11 or newer.

So here is the response from Rampage regarding the fitment of the rack on a 2012...
"Hey Ryan, the rack will fit fine if you do not have the factory sub woofer in the back, if by chance you have the speaker the rack will still work but you have to modify the brackets to fit it.
*
Basically you have shave off two little tabs on the brackets and redrill a hole to relocate the bracket up which in turn raises the rack about a ˝ inch clearing the speaker."
I ordered one and will confirm fitment after install.

In my 07 the bracket was rubbing on the sub woofer. I just got it kinda lined up and cranked it down...it works.

The only thing I can say is that the whole thing seems to be a touch off center so one pin barely engages and the other seems too deep.

Wrap the pins with something where they slid through the rack or the rattle will quickly drive you insane. I found a small piece of hockey tape took care of it.

Interesting,
I just found the reply they sent me...

"Thank you for your interest in our products. The current sport rack
does not fit in the 2011 and newer JK Wranglers due to the new interior
design made by Jeep. We are in the process of redesigning the rack so that
it does fit with the new interior set up. We hope to have the new rack
system available in the new few months."

Cool. I'm addicted to Amazon...

You will like the rack though. It's for sure not Poly quality...but it also isn't $600 either.

It feels a little cheap and the flip up "hinge"(two pieces of tube sleeved) doesn't seem like a great design. But I never really intended on the flipping up thing being something I use. I just wanted a rack that was meant to fit in the back of a JKU, Bestop is not, and that wasn't $600.

I agree...I may flip the thing up on rare occassion, but enough to be concerned about the hinge quality. I debated with myself over the Poly rack, but I couldnt get past the price..

I got mine from Amazon as well and I think it was the same price. Though the sub-woofer in the back was too tall and the pin on the rack wouldn't engage, so I had to do some trimming and use a heat gun (on the sub) to make it fully engage/lock

Just got mine in from Amazon and unfortunately it does NOT fit the 2012 jku. There is far to much plastic body molding in the rear "trunk" area of the jeep. The basket itself fits fine-the support brackets fit and there is no problems with space-but the latches need to be mounted to the roll bar ( small hole on 07-10 ) that is covered by the body trim. Not sure if how or if to start cutting the molding to access the roll are to mount is, but not worth it imho. I am going to keep the rack in hopes that the only the bracket gets modified- but this is highly doubtful. there are threads on this that go back to 2011 with rampage having an early fix ( spring 2012 ) and now that it is fall, i imagine the engineering is more difficult than thought.

Well I went ahead and cut into the plastic molding and got the thing mounted. The driver side cut was pretty simple but the passenger side with sub woofer took some time.
I'll throw up some pics when I have time.

2012 Jku with rampage sport rack

Well I got it installed on my 2012. This fits well in the trunk area and the only issue was the cutting of the body panels. If anyone wants the general measurements to cut into the plastic than removing the two side panels i will post them. The cutting went pretty easy with a drill hole and then a small blades hand jigsaw cutter. Finished up with a razor blade trimming a sliver at a time. I am going to caulk the area to make a cleaner look and will post more pictures when complete. Seems like a great buy- 192 shipped overnight from amazon. A little heavier than I thought it would be.

Little better look

Here is another view of the cut. Needs to be cleaned up a little.

You'd have to do some fab work to raise this basket. Or you could buy some tube clamps and go that route...
