So how does work get done to your Jeep?

Just curious on how many do what on their rigs here. No need to elaborate unless you want to.

Last one should be "I take..."

If my work schedule is not full and I have tools on hand I will dive in.

If not I take it to a friends house who is way more mechanically inclined and lend a hand however I can.

The only thing i paid someone to do is my gears and some welding here and there. I will be buying a welder soon so i can practice on some smaller projects.

I'd fall under #1 if I had a bender/notcher and could say my cage was bent up myself. Other than that I'm to every extent of #2 including welding, gears, etc, etc. I feel I'm more limited by space/fab shop tools more than anything, there isn't anything on the Jeep I wouldn't do.

I'll do everything until it involves a welder, bending tubes and changing gears, lockers, etc...

So I guess #2?

I do everything. If I don't have the tools, I find a friend/club member that does that will let me borrow them :-)

Ugh, after having a few different places either not change the oil (just as black after as it was before) and one not putting enough in, there is no way I'll let anyone else do it.

Yup. Changing fluids is to easy to do to have someone else do it for you,...even if you know they will do it right, which is no guarantee. Although if I had a coupon to have a free oil change done I would probably jump on it due to being a cheap bastered

I do everything but gears and tranny work. Sucks because I have my third set of gears going in since April!
My plant guys do any welding that I need.

I do what I can, which is a fair bit. But I'll admit, there are times I'm lazy and send it off to a shop. Last weekend I spent adding PureJeep gussets and a homebuilt truss. The JK is happy.

I have the ability and tools to accomplish everything except bending/notching tube, and gears. Everything else is fair game in my garage including electronics install and repair. (Pays to be an automation technician by trade) If I had the space for a bender i'd buy one of those too. I'd love to exo the perimeter, add a custom cage, and build a cargo rack myself. Someday hopefully... Great poll question Goody! Even if you won't drink it.

I've got tools, a welder and a garage to work in, but for gears (don't have them yet) I'm going to have a shop do it.

I haven't done too much to it yet...but my limitations are not having a welder and never doing gears. For some reason I have no issue diving into a motor but when it comes to a R&P I get very nervous. When the time comes Ill end up having someone do that.

I do what I can with the knowledge and tools I have or can get. Sometimes time is money and I do have a friends that runs a garage if I am in a bind.

So far the only thing I let someone else do is to relocate the muffler. Because I didn't have a welder at the time. But going to let someone else do my gears since I have never done them before.

ditto.

mine is going in the shop in the next month for gears, and ill be getting a welder too. i have a lot of stuff down the line for the wrangler and it just makes much more sense to get a welder and either let my brother (welder by trade) weld for me, or do it myself if i can learn. a few hundred dollars on a welding machine will save me LOTS more in labor.
