If your wheels come close to the pinch seam, cut it. If don't like the way it looks ,cut it.

Break out the sawzall, put in a new blade, cut pinch seam. Revel in your glory.

Or pull the tire off, hammer, try to make it look right, hammer some more, put the tire back on and have to cut off more and less cleanly than if you'd of just cut it off in the first place.

Cut it.

Marcus

This.

Also if your running 35' tires with no lift, pinch seams are the least of your worries.

I talked to the designer of the JK in a bar and asked the same thing. He told me it would be a good spot to learn to cut painted steel, before you cut the hood to fix the air box problem with hydolocking your motor when you drive it like they do in the commercials.

How does it affect Chrysler? Would you think it's worth thousands of dollars to retool the tub manufacturing process to accommodate what people add after the fact? I have many other questions on "why", stupid pinch seam isn't one of them.

How about weak axle tubes? C-gussets? Top leaks? Plastic backed ball joints? 9/16" holes with 14mm fasteners in them? Weak-ass steering boxes?

Do it right the first time and just cut away. It will look much cleaner in the end.

hit that bad boy with a cut off wheel and call it a day

I met a wild-eyed spinster on the back of a bus
She asked if there was any part of her I'd like to touch
When I told her "Yer nuts!" she got mad at me
And lectured on female anatomy...

Once you do it, you will see it is a no brainer! As long as you have all of your fingers when you are finished.

Saws all then angle grinder lightly to clean up the cut.

We in salt and winter crap worry about cutting anything and rust if you don't get it sealed back correctly.

I used a sawzall for the initial cut, then used a grinder to shape and clean the cut. I rattle canned it but I will be "sealing" it with epoxy and using Mopar touch up paint over it.

So where are the comments from the guys voting to bend it. I want to see their input on why they think it is better. Not that it would have ever changed my mind. Cutting it is better.
