2012 JKU Rubicon Leak & Dealer Experience

Called State Line Jeep in SC (where I bought it) and tried to make an appointment to look at something leaking from driver's side near the very front of the vehicle and they said they didn't have any loaner cars until late in the day. I bought the extended warranty which is supposed to supply a loaner when service is needed.

So I make an appointment at the other Jeep dealer in town (Keffer). They say no problem on the loaner. The first words out of the service writer's mouth when he saw my Jeep were "you know if that leak is caused by your lift kit, I'm going to have to void your warranty."

To top it off, their loaner car is an Enterprise rental that requires an Enterprise rep to pick you up, drive you to their office, then wait about an hour for a rental. What a great service experience.

BTW...I also told them about a driver's side engine tick and a creaky driver's seat.

I'm anxiously waiting for the call back to hear what they have to say.

The fluid leaking seemed to be ATF. Maybe one of the ATF cooler lines near the radiator? What's weird, is that there seemed to be both coolant and ATF fluid leaking by the time I got to the dealer.

I've never bought a Jeep new or had one with a warranty, but I believe Abadjeeper has had good experiences with Keffer. I guess it just depends on the service writer you get.

Good luck.

Just got a call from the dealer. He said an tranny line was rubbed through and it is undetermined if the lift kit caused it but he said he'll warranty it. He said they will need to charge me $150 for the removal of my skid plates in order to make the repair.

I have the EVO oil pan skid and their skid that connects to it and covers that delicate line that hangs down. I don't see why the oil pan skid would have to be removed but they adamantly say it does.

I seem to remember another 2012 on the forum that had some line that rubbed through also?

Forgot to mention, they said there was no audible engine noise. I'm on the fence as to whether I have a tick or not but at least I got it documented. I may have to do the "compare with a brand new" vehicle with them.

well looks like this turned out to be a recall issue...wonder what would've happened in they had voided your warranty over this just to issue a recall down the road. Sorry to drum up an old thread, came across this searching for threads on loaners.
