Wax Residue!

The dealership i bought my JK from has a horrible detail shop....They gave me a hundred bucks to get it detailed because of my complaints (if you are buying something it should be clean). I pocketed the hundred bucks and cleaned it up myself. The only issue is apparantly whoever waxed it at the dealership had his eyes closed. The mirrors, door handles, basically everything that is the black plastic has residue all over them. Luckily i have painted fenders. Any suggestions on what I could use to remove that residue without damaging the plastic itself....I know 303 to protect it...i use that stuff on my boat...but need help with the removal of the residue.

Thanks

Peanut oil and a tooth brush will remove it. The peanut oil will remove the wax residue, the tooth brush will make sure you get into the "grain" of the plastic.

You can also use WD40, then use a ArmorAll.

Don't use Armorall, it is well known that it is not good to plastics. It actually helps it fade, as it breaks the heat seal down, the top layer that was in contact with the form when the piece was molded. It will also crack the plastic over time, as will most oil based stuff, it contains dimethyl silicone oil, and some other petro products. These will leach the preservatives out of the plastic and replace them with the nasties in Armor-all. To prevent it drying out, you will have to keep applying more Armor-all, if you don't it will crack (and look like crap), if you do, it just gets worse and worse.

Use 303 instead, a much better product.

Wax. Armor-all. The Jeep gods will punish such heresy.

You can find it online or I get mine at a local boat dealership. It is awesome protects everything, I use it on my boat hull, seats, JK soft top and anything else you can imagine.
