2007 3.8L swap with a 2010 3.8L, need advise

I recently scored a 2007 JK Unlimited with 109,000 miles. The former owner sold it stating it has a bad "rod knock". I am not totally convinced its actually a "rod knock".
Anyway I have a new 3.8L engine out of a 2010 JK. We pulled it out with 250 miles on it to do a Hemi swap. I would really like to put the 2010 engine in the 2007. I have heard, that the 2007 is not the same as a 08, 09, 10.
Does anyone have any insight for me?
Will it work? What will it take? Bad idea?
Thanks

There is another thread asking the same? Somewhere on here. Would look for the link but phone search sucks. Believe the short answer is no issues w using the newer motor.

Is this thing on?.....

I put an 11 motot in my 07.

I used my stock harness as the 11 was slightly different.

Other that that the only other thing I swapped was the coolant temp sensor it had a diff plug.

Good luck!

I also have the transmission out of the 2010. I might as well switch that over to the 2007 as well. Any one know of any issues with the trans swap?
Thanks for all the insight.
