Mixing types of Trans fluids and cruise control...

Ok...so recently my cars transmission took a massive :th_242735: and until I can afford to get that fixed I am down to using my JK to commute to work. I was going to do a trans fluid change at 50k miles...(I am not the original owner)...when I read that with D3 fluid it should only need changing every 100k or so depending on how bad you drive the vehicle. I am pretty easy on my JK and when I checked the fluid levels it was a little low but still looked very reddish clear. I was advised not to change it by the dealership and just top it off. What I didn't bother to ask was what type of fluid is put into the JK stock (2007). I have some D3 Full Synthetic and would like to top it off with that. Will this be a problem?

Also I was told by a transmission tech that my cruise control may have caused the ruination of my tranny on my car. He stated that leaving the cruise control switch "on" but not actually using the cruise control can damage the transmission. This has to be about the stupidest thing I have ever heard...however...there has been no shortage in seeing and hearing stupid things recently in my life so I thought I would ask.

Thanks in advance!

Use only AFT 4 and the guys you talked with is full of bull! I leave my cruse on all the time and use it to run down the street. I have over 57,000 on my jeep. It is like saying leaving your radio on will hurt your gas mileage.

Bah! I was thinking D3 was for my JK...I have the ATF+4 as well. The D3 is for my peice of shit car. I assume there is no issue with mixing Full Syn in with whatever is in there right now until I can get the change done?

I gotta say...this ATF+4 has a pretty strong smell to it...it isn't the "burnt toast" smell that people describe bad trans fluid as smelling like but it's pretty strong. I keep checking the levels before and after work each day. Level of fluid is fine and it still looks very red on the dipstick...gonna change it anyway soon as I get new trans pan bolts and a round tipped allen wrench...
