Question No used JK D30's in the country...

Guess it works out OK for me though cause I get a brand new one instead

Had a little incident with a giant yellow light pole after some idiot swerved at me then took off

I have a complete one with 53k miles on it. Rotor to rotor.

I wouldn't spend the coin on a new D30 if you have the chance for insurance to help you upgrade!

As much as I'd like that then I'd be out of pocket to re-gear the rear and unfortunatly that out of the question at this point in time

Not really sure how all this works anyhow..been paying insurance for 20 years and never needed to use it untill now

Its pretty simple in MI, (used to work up there, been in the industry for 10 years+) Just call your ins. co. and turn in a claim. Pending on which way you want to do it/what ins. company you have, they'll either send an adjuster out to look at and write the initial estimate or persuade you to send it to a DRP/direct repair shop, where the shop will write it.

If you don't really have any extra $$ right now I'd just send it to a shop and let them handle it. Taking a payout as mentioned before is the route to take if you want to do the repair yourself or upgrade or whatever. Only problem is if you take a payout and do the repair yourself you may be up shits creek if theres some damage the adjuster missed initially, which is possible.

the adjuster just called..9000$ in damages so far and they haven't dug into it yet. I'd be all over fixing it myself any other time but now wouldnt be a good time for me to spending a lot out of pocket Michigan

Get a breakdown of the $9K from your adjuster.

As long as there is no frame damage you should be in great shape to to the upgrades.

A shop can do it for you if you dont have the time or capabilities and you will still come out ahead.

$9K covers a lot of axles, suspension, gearing, transfer case (if needed)

Also remember of that $9k, at least half is labor. From the pic, looks like a new bumper, new front end and fender. Do it yourself, upgrade the bumper and front end, and you'll still have $2k-$3k leftover. That covers any little stuff that pops up.

When life gives you lemons...get an upgraded front end out of it.
