A kit doesn't make you a racer. You need a few other things... Radios, suit, ummm. oh yeah, a TEAM, tow rigs, trailers, lots of cash, lots of beer, window nets, Inspected and approved cage...

I had 25k into my old race truck and it still wasn't race "ready". The link isn't working for me, but another Member on here, Scott, races. not a JK though.

That thing never got raced. It was a complete shame!

Jeep Speed did just open up the rules to be a little more JK friendly!

Maybe thats why RE went backrupt. They spent all that money and never used it.

the terraflex kit i guess is just one option a consumer has for building a vehicle in such a "style" without spending a huge amount of money...

though would be interesting if more parts/fixtures come on the market. i find it interesting that the article talks about jeeps now as an offroad race platform to what bugs where in the past...

another pic from the article:

Agree completely. There was an issue with the motor. Jeepspeed cup rules said any mopar power plant, then when RE built this car, and the owner of Jeepspeed owned a cup car with a stroker 4.6, he changed the rules to say any mopar motor with a cast iron block. The RE car had a Hemi.

A JK doesn't fit into Jeepspeed Challenge with the TJ's and Cherokees, where the main competition is, or was, so it would race in Jeepspeed Cup, with one maybe two cars. They are opening up the rules in cup to get more cars, but it's pretty much a dead class.

The original TJ Jeepspeed in the link was my car. We won a few races in that including the Baja 1000, Parker 425, Henderson 400 and others. $25k would not get you to the first race, and not even close to competitive.

I have a 12' JKU that I am building for show/prerunning, and am building an eco-tec class 3000 truck to race. It will be at KOH in Feb.
