Front Bumper Help (Please!)

Okay, sooo.... I think I have made up my mind to get front bumper for my Jeep. It is time for it, I have already made a fair sized dent in one side of the bumper (Tree was totally in my way, its fault, not mine) and I also kind made a small hole in the front too (another dumb tree).

But I need some help picking out a bumper. I am slightly picky, and I really do want something good. Not total shit. But... my Jeep is turning into a mall crawler. I have not had the ability to take her and abuse her off road as much as she wants to. School (being a chem major really sucks all the time out of everything) and such are just getting in the way.

I am stuck on getting a stubby or no... I like them, they are cheaper than full length ones.

Here are my requirements for a bumper (that I need help picking out):
- Tight College Budget (~$600, prefer less, but you get what you pay for)
- Fog Light hole (I would like to keep them, cause if I don't, what the hell am I supposed to do with them?_
- Needs to look good/decent with the silver factory sahara flares.
- Prefer a place to mount another set of lights, but not a must.
- Must be able to mount a winch onto the bumper

Now, this thread is in relation to my old (2 day old) thread about what to get. I think some of you guys helped push me into the bumper direction. Here are some of the bumpers that I am looking at now... these are all still up in the air.

Olympic 4x4 Product: http://www.quadratec.com/products/12001_000X_PG.htm

- I like this one, but I have a feeling its cheap... But my girlfriend does like it... cant figure out if thats good/bad?

HighRock 4x4 (Bestop): http://www.quadratec.com/products/12050_1402_07.htm

- Cheap?

HighRock 4x4 (Bestop): http://www.quadratec.com/products/12050_1412_07.htm

- Like it... but its up there... (pricey). Also, it looks just, big? Idk, I like stubbys.

Rugged Ridge: http://www.quadratec.com/products/12052_710_07.htm

- I really kind of like this one, mainly because I can buy it and then add all the other good crap I need to it. This will probably be one I get because I can not find a-bunch of bad things about it. So... I'll more than likely get this one unless someone can convince me its crap, or show me a better one.

Body Armor 4x4: http://www.quadratec.com/products/12028_3100_07.htm

- Its big, but its nice. I love all the places to mount lights. And the price is nice, but I really do not like the "no fog lights" deal going on with it.

SmittyBilt: http://www.quadratec.com/products/12057_2011_07.htm

- This is the one I love, I have always wanted it... but... I do not thing
that it will look right on my Jeep. Think I might kill an old lady with it, or have issues parking.

SmittyBilt: http://www.quadratec.com/products/12057_1000_07.htm

- This one is much more clean, But I'm not sure if I like all the "Tubes"
and alas, no fog light holes.

Olympic 4x4 Products: http://www.quadratec.com/products/12001_210X_PG.htm

- Eh, don't really hate this one, but defiantly don't love it.

So, what do you guys think? I mean I know that like a lot of you have bumpers on your Jeeps. If you like it... leave a pic and let me know why... or why you hate it. And vendors if you have anything you think would work, lemme know.

Thanks in advance!

None of the above.

Get this one
http://shop.poisonspyder.com/JK-Fron...7-16-020-b.htm

Hahaha just kidding dude, get whatever you want, but that one is my personal favorite and at a very good price (for a bumper at least). A little bit more than the ones you posted, but in range. It does not have any fog light holes, but you can certainly mount some aftermarkets on it if you wanted to no problem.

If I was to choose one from YOUR list, I would pick the one imaged in the last link you posted, the olympic 4x4 one. That one is pretty badass looking. Havent really heard much bout olympic and the quality of their products but....im sure it would hold up just fine. Second in line would be the smitybilt stinger, the one you said will kill an old lady. Whatever you do, don't get a tubular bumper. They are quite silly looking IMHO. Either way, good luck with your decision!

I'm no help, but certainly consider more sources than just Quadratec. There are lots of good vendors on the forum that'll hook up you!

Please don't go anywhere near a Rugged Ridge... anything.

I have the Brawler Lite. Fits all your requirements and is one sexy ass bumper. I get complements on mine everywhere I go. If you settle for a bumper because it's $100 cheaper you'll regret it. Think of that $100 stretched across the next 5-6 years that you'll have the Jeep. Not such a big deal.

PSC all the way. Rugged Ridge is never your best option.

Yes, I understand that there are more places to buy from. Trust me. But, I do like there website the best, because it's the easiest to use. I may not buy from them, but if for some crazy reason they a the best price, I will. Haha.

And yea, thanks man, I have been wanting psc for a long time, I'm just having a hard time justifying it. And yea, I am feeling he same way about tubular, they do no look good. But m girlfriend is saying the same thing. She says it's my jeep, I'm the one driving it all the time, I just need to get what I want.

Okay... So rugged ridge is crap. Hum, this sucks cause I kinda liked it. I mean, as I said. It's no going to need to hold up to a ton of beatings and all. But I defiantly do not want to buy a shitty bumper. I'm still doing my research, And I would love a psc, but my issue with them is how they mount the winch. I want to be able to mount it "inside" the bumper. Or something along those lines.

And hey, If Marcus knows his stuff, get him on this thread. I need help you guys. Haha.

Yeah I wouldn't go with rugged ridge either. Putting a lot of chinese made products on a Jeep is just wrong. Certain products unavoidable but, when you have American products available, that is always the prudent route to take.

I've got a Smittybilt 12,000lb winch I spent $200 on (new) and a Smittybilt XRC rear bumper with a swing I spent $300 on (new). "Just wrong", at $500...you bet your ass it's on my Jeep! It works a hell of a lot better than nothing.

Samuelrclark,

I personally would go for the look you want more than anything. I like the way my XRC bumper looks, I'd love to stick a Poison Spyder rear brawler on mine, but I really can't justify replacing my perfectly good XRC for it. There are many made in the states brands that have awesome quality to them, however I have installed several Rugged Ridge/Smittybilt bumpers for others. While they weren't my style, there weren't any problems worth mentioning with them.

It depends on what you spend and what you want..I can bet they'll all bolt on and pretty much do what you expect them to do. Now I wouldn't say that applies to things such as control arms, joints, cages, shocks, springs and other vital parts...but the general bolt on bumper? They'll all do fine, pick what you want.

This bumper meets all your requirements. Rock Hard stubby w factory fog cutouts, winch plate, a bullbar w light tabs, and under $600. http://www.amazon.com/RH5001-B-Short...4690486&sr=1-4 I bedlined mine. I love the bumper but didn't like the finish. Easy fix.

I like my rugged ridge XHD, its a good bumper that allows a winch on a budget. It's also nice that its modular so you can change it up when you want.

Warn has a new stubby that looks pretty good, not sure on the price though. I actually like that rock hard too.

With that said, I have a psc brawler lite and still love it. Yeah everybody's got em, but they just look so damn good IMO

I really do like that RockHard bumper. That is right up my ally. I need to do some looking into that.

I am still defiantly considering a PSC. It is what I have wanted since I have joined this forum. But I just can't seem to go that deep for one. Specially if it does not have fog light holes, and then I looked at getting a small 10" single row LED light set for it... and they are close to ~$300 plus I would need the mount. I just can not talk myself into it. But I really would like to... its defiantly still a consideration.

Another question: What is it I am hearing about the "front slump" after installing a winch and front bumper on my Jeep. As of now I am running little pucks (stupid things...). Will this cause my Jeep to drop in the front a little. And if so, what can I do to fix it? At the moment my Jeep has roughly 5" (maybe its 6") in the front (tire to fender flare) and 6" (maybe 7") in the rear (tire to fender flare). Either way there is an inch less in the front than in the rear. Will adding a front bumper make me drop 1/2" - 1" or what...? (this is all from what I have read on other post). And if so, it the fix as easy as OME HD 2" springs for the front. (http://www.quadratec.com/products/16090_4034_07.htm)

Man... this is embarrassing. This is my second Jeep. I spend more time with it than with my girlfriend... and I still feel like a noob. Haha

Having the PSC brawler lite I would not buy it again... Fog light mounting is a PITA, you can't get paint into everywhere and it is heavy.

Warn has a new stubby that looks good and meets your requirements and then some. Looks like you can find them for around 400 and if your a shopper who knows.

Good luck on your choice!

Have you considered used? I have made some great buys this way. Something to consider. Saw a Shrockworks mid width that meets all your requirements for $400 or $500 a while back. Patience can be very rewarding.

should get the new Smittybuilt XRC stinger bumper....really cheap and functional! I have the original XRC stubby with trail bar and comes with wholes to mount additional lights as well as made to mount a winch on it without an aftermarket winch mount.

Hate me, but my choice is the Rugged Ridge XHD. My buddy has one on his jeep for a few years and has had no problems with it. i just put one on my jeep last week. i like that its modular so you can add/delete options as your taste and needs for the bumper change. and for the price its worth it.

- JAPJEEP: I have defiantly considered used. But the issue is, that none of them are really that close to me. And usually no one wants to ship, and if they will its super pricey and then takes away the advantage of it being used. The ones that are, are not good deals. But trust me, I am still looking at my options. I am not in a huge hurry to buy a bumper. I have been looking for a long time. There is a guy right now (name slipped my mind) selling a used LOD front mid width bumper, hoop and winch mount and all. ~$500. And he is only like 2 1/2hrs away. But by the time I drive to get it, it will be close to $550. And they retail for $600. So I don't no if it is worth it.

- Res6cue: And I love the FabFours. But dude... ~$1500 for a bumper. Haha... I wish...

- StetsonJK, TXROCK: I really like Smittybilt, I can not find a lot of bad about there bumpers. And I like how they are clean. I am kind of still leaning on the XHD Stubby. I found it for... ~$375 free shipping. Maybe thats a good deal?

- TEXASKEV: I really do like TopKickers Bumper a lot. It is just what I want. I am trying to be "thrifty shopper" and find a good deal on it.

- jvandy50: I looked up that Warn bumper. And its nice. And just what I want too. I am doing more looking into that. Don't you think it would look a little funny running a Warn bumper and Smittybilt winch? Ha-ha.

But yes, this is great info and thank you very much! But do any of you have any negitive things to say about Warrior 4x4 products. I do kind of like some of there makes. But there really cheap price is sort of scaring me.

And again, what is this I hear about the front "sag" that you get after installing a front bumper and winch combo?

Sorry for the long post. But this is some great info. You guys are helping me out a lot!

thats a good deal, but shop around. there are a bunch of vendors on the forum that sell rugged ridge, so just see who can get you the best deal. if you would have asked a few days earlier i would have said go to The Jeep Hut. I picked up a XHD bumper on their scratch and dent website, the thing look brand new and i got it for around $250 shipped. They had 3 but they sold quick.
