First of all, let me say that I am sorry for clogging up the forum with more gearing threads. I have used the search function repeatedly, but I haven't been able to find an answer to my specific question.
I just bought a '11 JKU Sahara with a 6 speed and 3.21 gears. Right now it still has the stock tires, which are roughly 32". I live in Central FL where there are basically no elevation changes to speak of and my stock gearing is perfect for what I do on and off road (shift into 6th at ~ 45 on road and easy to moderate trail riding off).
I want to lift the Jeep and get bigger tires for aesthetics and more ground clearance. Right now I am looking at a 2.5 Stock Mod and 33" tires, mostly because I don't really want to re-gear. I love the look of the 2.5" and 35s, but after seeing that everyone is gearing to 4.88 for 35s it is making me nervous about pulling the trigger without changing gears.
Anyone in my position running 3.21s with 35" tires? How much with this effect my drive ability on flat roads/trails? Am I better off sticking with 33" tires until I can afford to re-gear as well?
Thanks for the input!
