Sporting your CB Antenna ?

Ok along with my hi-lift question.

How many you you have your CB antenna on even when you are not wheeling?
What if you have a tall one that hits the garage door or parking lots?

Or do you just take it off till you are ready to wheel?

Heck no, gives em something else to try to steal or break off. I remove it & it goes in my warbag w/all the recovery stuff & tools till I go out again.

My CB antenna, Hi Lift jack and MOST of my recovery gear comes out when I am not wheeling.

I carry a recovery strap, tree saver, snatch block and extra D shackle routinely for situations that may arise.

I dont need to pay the Arab world for the extra fuel to carry unneeded weight!

I just started taking mine off, it hits the garage door. Its not so bad pulling in, but backing out it tears the red cap off the end and slings it across the driveway. I need to take the mic off too so some clown dont try to use it with the antenna off. Ima do dat today, in a lil while.

ATGATT.

It's a crazy world out there. If I can't have my antenna on it stays in the cab...

Mine catches on the garage door so I have to remove it. I forgot a few times and ruined a Firestick by tearing the threaded tip off.

I have a 3 footer that sticks up about a foot past the roof. Until I sell my TJ, tit stays in the garage so no woories about that right now. And I like to leave the CB on even when I'm not wheeling. Listening to the truckers can be entertaining and I have gotten some helpful traffic tips from them as well.

My antenna stays on all the time, plenty of spring int he antenna itself, can bend it into an arc (Solarcon 4') and no garage to worry about...

I put a spring on mine so if I do catch it it will spring and not break the antenna.

Everytime you take your antenna off for whatever reason you have you run the risk of changing your SWR readings. Just saying

I prefer a flexible antenna to the spring mount. I have had good luck with the Wilson flex antennas and I'm currently running a Firefly (more flexible version of the Firestik)

I used to run a 102" whip 100% of the time in Vegas. Unfortunately trails out here have "trees" and my 3' Firestick stays on.

I don't like to "do stuff" in order to be ready to go out. Besides my co2 tank I can pretty much do whatever I'd like to, whenever and be semi-prepared.

My antena is just tall enough to catch on the garage door, so I use a quick disconnect to take it off after wheeling. Sometimes I'll throw it on before drives in the mountains in case of snow and accidents so we can see if anyone knows what's up. I keep it bungee'd to the roll bar so I don't forget it.

Quick Disco to easily remove it when not in use. Strap it to the lateral part of the rollbar. It's always in the JK that way and some A hole won't try to break if off or steal it that way.

until i get a tuffy console, i don't keep my cb in my jeep but the antenna stays on all the time. it's a 4' K-40 on a Tera spare mount so it does stick up a bit, but i don't park in garages or anything so it doesn't matter. if i'm going on any decent trip i'll usually throw the cb in just for some occasional entertainment and help with traffic/speed traps

I met a wild-eyed spinster on the back of a bus
She asked if there was any part of her I'd like to touch
When I told her "Yer nuts!" she got mad at me
And lectured on female anatomy...

I leave mine on all the time. I have a 3'er so it does not hit the door. I leave my hi-lift on also just because it,s not the easiest to get off. I have to take my spare off to get to it. Of course it makes that much tougher to steal.

I got a shorty....so it isnt an issue with the garage ( it helps that i park outside in the driveway too)

but if "mount antenna" was on my to do list the day before a wheeling i would never make it to the trail prepared...

its bad enough a bunch of guys in my club dont see it as an nescesity... which means one of us up front, one in the middle, and one in the rear on a run... which is fine by me, but it sux to have to wait for people instead of asking over the radio if they are following or coming....

4 ft Firestick that i leave on all the time will fit in most garages... the tip of the antenna is about 5 inches above the Jeep top.... I ran a 3 footer on the cooltech plate mount for years and for me it was a perfect set up

Mine are attached to the windshield on fold over adapters. Never had an issue hitting anything, and I can lay them down on the hood if need be. They are so flexible that I get poked in the head by them sometimes, and they are working the entire time.
