Sporting a Hi-Lift

OK

How many of you guys have you Hi-Lift Jack attached 100% of the time?

Or do you only put it on before you go wheel?

100% here. Using it is dangerous as hell. But that may be all that works.

WHAT WAS THAT?! I CAN'T HEAR YOU OVER THE RATTLING AND CLANKING NOISE MY HI-LIFT JACK MAKES WHILE ATTACHED TO MY OR-FAB CARRIER!

I leave it on all the time, but I have 3 bungees holding all the moving parts to minimize the rattling and clanking it makes while attached. I've thought about removing it except only when wheeling, but I just feel like I need it to be prepared for anything all the time. It's a Boy Scout thing.

The real question is how many times have any of you that have it on a DD actually have used it?
I used to carry it around but never used it for anything so I just dumped the extra weight.

Abso-freaking-lutely 100% of the time on the front bumper. Bought it, went out looking for a lost Jeeper here in Phoenix the week after I installed it. The guy I was out searching with took a piece of mesquite to the sidewalk and he forgot his at home. If I hadn't had mine, would have had to do some weird stuff to get him home. Won't wheel without it now.

Mine lives on the Shrockworks rear bumper 100% of the time, proudly wearing its neoprene condom to protect the mechanism. A couple Daystar fittings keep the rattles away.

Three times over the last two years. Not to bad. But it is what I needed.

To help with the rattles I have a handle poly deal, the neoprene boot, and I use the very top "clamp/hook" and move it down do that it puts tension on the jack. The tension between the post and the walker helps keep major rattling down.

Kinda like my winch, sure I've used it twice. I could uninstall it very easily...but I have one and rather not be without it!

I have mine mounted inside, with me 100% of the time as well. I can probably count the number of times I've used on one hand but only once was on the trail. Hows the saying go, rather have it and not need it then need it and not have it.

We used it once to jack up a friends trailer (towing his rig) to change a tire on the side of the road.

The one trail usage was just recently when my sector shaft broke. Had to jack up the body/expand front coil spring to allow acces to the bolts holding the steering gear box on.

I have also used it a few times at home in the driveway so that I could re-seat the front coil springs. Need to get some retainers.

1. 60" hi lift mounted on my hood, its on there all the time.

2. The more you use it, the less scary it is to use. i've used my hi lift too many times to count, not sure what all the fear is about. you just gotta understand the mechanics of it and the angles.

I'd run out of if jack if I was to use one to try to change a tire on mine. Need to get under the axle for that, factory jack works good there.
