3.8 performance

I would like to see how much power I can get from the stock 3.8. I have installed the cold air intake and a cat back so far. Iím looking into a new high performance cam. Has anyone taken apart a 3.8 and looked at the exhaust and intake ports. Would porting or port matching help. What else can be done for not a lot of money.

Is a custom cam and a custom tune considered "not a lot of money"?

Bang for buck isn't quite there for the 3.8L. But if you aspire to tear it down, take pics and get some dyno figs for the masses.

Re-gear. Don't waste your money unless you plan to supercharge. This little engine just doesn't have much to give.

I found a company that make two customs cams for it, a horse power cam and one a torque cam, I just never got numbers from them.

I can see spending $5000 on the V6 for that kind of money I can put a V8 in it. The regear is an option.

Figure out what you want out of it, and what you want to spend.

They make a stroker kit/cam kit for it (Hesco), I haven't seen any numbers on it. Tear that sucker down and see what it'll do!

if money is a factor, first mod would be re-Gear and second would be to supercharge it.

there is some older chatter about it on hesco boards

I think this thing is finally coming together. Still Needed: drive shafts, frame mount rails...then done son! For a while...
