Taking doors off...

So the weather is nice and I am thinking about taking my doors off for the first time.
since the doors won't be pressing the sensor how do I get the lights to turn off when I'm parked, etc.

Thanks

You don't have to do anything special with JKs. When you disconnect the wire harness with the quick disconnect it automatically does that for you. Just check your manual, it tells you how to do it there.

be careful when you unhinge the doors...they are alot heavier than past jeep doors...make sure you have a good hold or youll end up with a dented seam like mine

yep just unplug. also if your first time dont forget to take the little screws off the bottom of the hinge. i never put mine back on. the lights will turn off automatically and the radio will play for like 30-60 sec after you turn off the jeep.

Sensor is not an issue. The light and radio even will stay on for a short time and then turn of automatically. don't know the exact time but I'd say 30 seconds give or take if that.

When you take the strap off, don't let go of the door, if it swings open the mirror will dent the cowl. Take off your belt too so you don't scratch the door.

And put the windows down to protect the glass and give you another place to grab. As someone said they are pretty heavy.

Folks look at me strange as I walk away from the Jeep with the radio blaring, but yep... it shuts off after a bit. When I remember, I turn it off before I exit, but I usually don't think about it.

Much heavier than the old TJ ones were for sure. Be careful.

But there's nothing like driving a Jeep w/ the doors off.
