Snapped my e-brake

Lovely.

Parked the Jeep, pulled the e-brake up and POP. no tension. whatsoever.
I've spent the last 3 hours trying to figure out the problem (took the driver seat out, console out, e-brake mechanism apart.. can't figure it out. I do see a broken metal er.. thingamabob? right under the lever

I googled it and saw quite a few jeepers who have had this problem - most said it is the coil but I'm not so sure.
Haven't looked underneath for loose brake cables yet.. will do that in the day light.

Anybody else have this problem?

My guess is you will find the problem ..... under the jeep and in daylight. The cable is easy to find just in front of and above the rear axle.

Yeah, I had this happen.
Mine ended up being the spring coil on the lever. $75 later, it was replaced (did the replacement myself).

Grim- do you have any pictures? Or a part number?
I don't think it's the brake line.. Just looked, I don't have patience. (for daylight to get here)

Hmm. The picture looks big on my iPhone so I'm assuming it's going to be huge on the laptop. -.-
I thought photobucket automatically resized pics?

Anyway.. See, the brake lines are still in tact. Damnit. was hoping for a cheaper easier fix.

I did a complete writeup on replacing that..it's the lever mechanism if you see the broken tab on the coil
