Lifetime Powertrain Warranty question

Hi!

My JK was built April 2007.
In July 2007 Chrysler announced the new Lifetime Powertrain Warranty.
It says:

The new Chrysler Lifetime Powertrain Warranty applies to most new Chrysler, Jeep® and Dodge vehicles purchased from dealer inventory and delivered on or after July 26, 2007.

So, it clearly states that "vehicles purchased from dealer inventory and delivered on or after July 26, 2007" are covered. (the text says purchases or leases...)

My lease started Sept 11, 2007. The JK had 7000km as it was a "demo".
So I take it that the date at which my JK was "put on the market / or on the street" is sept 2007...
So I guess I should be covered by the lifetime warranty...
But it says "most new vehicles"... Demo = not new??

What do you think?
What's your interpretation?

Call Chrysler instead of asking questions that no one can really answer

It goes by RDR (Retail Delivery Record) date. In other words, when YOU took possesion of it. Being that it was a "Demo" should not affect you. If it was a fleet car (rental), then, yeah, you probably would be S.O.L. But like Imkunfused said, call Chrysler to be sure. And ask them to send you something in writing to confirm.

Ask your Service Advisor print your service contracts you have on record with Chrysler. That's where you'll find out if you have it.

Shouldnt matter that it was a Demo.

Ok thanks for the info.
Yeah I'll call Chrysler, but I just wanted to see what people thought of the demo thing...
RDR sounds good to me!
10-4.

The dealer can tell you in a few min as they can look it up in the computer in the service department. Some "Demo's" were titled and if that is the case generally no lifetime. Curious to see what they say about yours since not all get titled.

Dont forget the disclaimers, for example, you have to take your Jeep to the dealer to have the oil changed and service done. If not there then you have to call them first before taking it somewhere else otherwise you void the warranty. At least that is what I was told when I bought my used 08 rubicon a couple of weeks ago.
you can also go to owners section at jeep.com and look at your warranty info. It will also tell you any services that have been completed by dealerships in case you bought it used. i found some interesting stuff about my rubicon that came from Michigan.

Looking at your mods and depending on the dealership you can kiss that lifetime warranty goodbye.

the Lifetime warranty that the OP is talking about only has one condition. you must bring it in every 5 years to be "inspected".

edit - and yes, first owner only.

Yeah and my dealer is ok with the mods...

Someone mentioned logging to the jeep.com website.
Not cool, it's only for USA people it seems... I cannot sign up at all...
Whatever, I'll talk to my dealer...

The only problem you may have is the "demo" part. The warranty is for the original owner only and is not transferable. If it was a fleet vehicle and used as a demo, you may or may not be OK. If the fleet owner was Chrysler you will be fine. If the fleet woener was the the dealership acting as the car owner (i.e. using it as a personal car) you may have an issue.
Best bet is to talk to chrysler. The number you need to call is in your owners manual.

From the owners warranty manual

In Canada:
Chrysler Canada, Inc.
Customer Service
Chrysler Centre
P.O. Box 1621
Windsor, Ontario N9A-4H6

Phone: (800) 465-2001

In the United States:
Chrysler Customer Assistance Center
P.O. Box 21-8004
Auburn Hills, Michigan 48321-8004

Phone: (800) 992-1997

Since you bought your '08 used, you may have some kind of locally honored dealer warranty, in which case, they can stipulate the conditions.
