I know having different tire sizes can destroy gears and such. However, if it's on the front and in 2H, can one get home? I am thinking of getting a set of basic wheels that I won't care if they're damaged and a set of used tires. It would only take 15 min to swap them out before a trail run and preserve the nice rims since it's my DD.
If I do this I was thinking of using 35s offroad, 33 on. That means my spare (already on it) would be a 33. It might mean a little extra work but regardless if I get a flat front/rear I could put the 33 in front and limp home. So would that do any damage if the front isn't engaged?
Yes, I know ideally just getting a matching spare is the way to go but A) budget will dictate and B) not always cheap used wheel/tire sets available in 5s but sometimes in 4s.
