I am ready to pull the trigger on a 2011 Jeep JK. I have been doing some research and have made some tentative choices that I would like input on.
My Jeep will be a daily driver but I am not concerned with mpg. I'll be getting an automatic transmission. I will be doing some camping, fishing and shooting. Also some mild to moderate trail riding with the local Jeep club. For the most part I am function over form, but I do want my Jeep to look good.
I have picked out the Rock Krawler 2.5 Max Travel lift with Rock Krawler shocks. 35x12.50x17 tires. Probably Nitto Trail Grapplers. And 17" wheels obviously. Does anyone have any reasons the Rock Krawler lift wouldn't be the best choice?
I have looked over several bumpers, tire carriers, and rock sliders, but don't notice an advantage one way or the other really other than looks. I'll also be installing a winch just in case.
My main question is Wrangler Sport vs Rubicon. Will the extra reduction in the transfer case, 44 axles, 4.10 gears, and lockers make that much difference for my purposes. I can get quick disconnects for the sway bar. Being able to do that from in the cab doesn't mean that much to me. Cost isn't a huge deal, but I don't need what I don't need.
With the 35" tires I may end up changing gears anyway with either the Rubicon or Sport to something closer to 5:1.
Is there anything I am missing for now?
