ProRock 44 dropped during shipping - hidden damage?

My new Prorock was delivered a little over a week ago while my wife was home so the FedEx driver attempted to unload it himself. He lowered it down from the truck by standing the skid on end. Apparently everything was going well until he tried to get the dolly underneath it with it still standing up. The strapping broke and it fell to the ground, it made a couple of divets in the road but nothing major. As you can see the damage appears to be superficial and the brackets don't seem to be bent. I just don't have experience with anything like this happening and I'm wondering if thhere could be any damage that I can't see or that wouldn't be obvious.

This is just a guess on my part, but I think you could drop that thing from a second story window and not hurt it much..lol

In all seriousness, from the pics you provided... I think the extent of the damage would be just the chipped paint shown.

Just to be on the safe side, I would still open a claim that it was dropped. IF something is wrong when it is finally bolted up, then you MIGHT be able to get some help.

I think this thing is finally coming together. Still Needed: drive shafts, frame mount rails...then done son! For a while...

I am looking into getting one in the future. If when I get mine and I see it dropped I will definately be making some sort of claim. Its not a couple a bucks we are talking about here. Being cautious is always best.

It may be just me, but the UCA bushing hole looks a little be ovaled out. Im not sure if that's how they all are, or if it was caused from the drop. Im sure the guys that are running one will chime in. Or even dynatrack. Just a thought.

There does see to be a bit of "space" in the second picture on the right side of the bushing...

It looks like the control arm mount took the hit and as mentioned appears to have done some damage.

I would 110% file a claim with Fed-Ex. It's a high dollar item that should be handled with care and they are responsible for it's safe arrival at your home/business.

I don't have a picture of the control arm mount to compare, but I know the guys at Dynatrac will be more than willing to help you identify any wrongs with your axle.

X2 it does look smashed in up top and flared out where the gap is.. But not having a stock one to compare I can't really say

Funny enough, I didn't notice that it looked ovaled until I saw the picture I posted. I'll have to look at it again tonight. I've talked to FedEx about it and have the claim paperwork on my desk just waiting to be completed.

No doubt it's fine (other than the paint) but I would be pissed anyway. I know we are going to bash them.... rattle can them etc... but damn - don't throw it in my driveway.

Curious to see what they say/do about it.

I was kind of thinking the same thing except that instead of hitting a rock this is more like a drunk penguin falling over....I don't know how the penguins do after impact either.

I actually got lucky, he unloaded it on the road instead of the concrete drive. My wife tells me that the driver spent a couple of minutes picking the asphalt out of the scratches on it, at least the hot pavement had a little give to it.

I still need to email Dynatrac but it looks good. The area that looks ovaled appears to be because the holes were punched before the bracket was formed. There is actually a tube welded into the middle of the bracket that the bushing goes through. You can see one of the welds on the inside right near the top of the bracket.

I can't imagine there would be any hidden damage. The areas of concern would be the the bushing areas and the seal bore at the pinion. These areas wouldn't be hidden but damage may not be seen if you're not looking for it.

I would definatly file a claim with FedEX with the amount of $$$$ you spent on it.

I made sure to tell them when they delivered mine to bring a truck with a lift gate on the back. Sure enough they did. Came off the truck flat, on a pallet jack, just like it was loaded.

Just a quick update - installed the axle last weekend and have zero issues. I'm very happy with it, you can't tell that anything even happened.
