Has anyone tried to fit 15" rims?

I tried Procomp 152 street locks steel rims and they said it hit the caliper before it has fully seated on the wheel studs. The guys at 4wheel parts said they have fit 3 other JKs with ProComp 8069 aluminum wheels with no grinding. The steel wheel today was a fittment experiment. So now they will try this aluminum wheel that they have had success with in the past. Anyone on the forum have luck with this wheel?Attachment 33027

I run 15x10 micky thompson classic II's with 35 12.50's with no issues. Some 15's will rub the calipers and some wont, even if it rubs it will only rub for a little while. Till it rubs enough of the caliper away.

I'm running procomp 8069's in a 15x8 and don't have issues. they cant balance it with stick on weights flat inside the wheel opening though, it has to be done with the clip on weights that go on the lip. The stick on weights will hit the brake caliper, thats how tight a fit it is

Ran 15x8 Cragar Soft 8s with 4" of back spacing until this past weekend. They rubbed for a minute, then worked great. I didnt' know they rubbed until I rotated the tires actually.

It can be done, and lots of people are doing it.

4x4x4 has those wheels or some like it if I'm not mistaken.

Marcus

Awesome. (I love this forum). Thanks for the info! They ordered 5 rims and have the 35" KM2 in stock. So if it fits I'll have a set of 17" Rubicon wheels with air pressure sensor and KM2 size 285/70/17 for sale on my local Craigslist!!

Before I came from the other place, Discount Tire Direct started a thread where they were trying different manufacturers 15" wheels. The 15x8 Aluminum MB72 from discount tire also works. That is what I plan on going with.

Do a quick search for Planman's write up on 15s. He has pictures that show where the rub takes place.

I have Blackrock 900s 15s no issue, used sticky weights but can't double stack them or it will rub.

I have Procomp series 98 steel wheels 15x10 and had no rubbing on the calipers. I have the clip on weights on the outside as well. I kinda didn't like that the weights had to be on the outside because the wheels were black and the weights silver, but I just hit the weights with spray paint after every balance.

Has anyone found a 15" wheel that WONT WORK! Even with the grinding and what not. No matter what you did, they just would not work??

If you want to go bead lock the Walker Evans 8.5 x 15 is the way to go. They actually machine the wheel for caliper clearance. On JK’s you can run any backspacing you want. The problem with most 15” wheels you have to run at least 3.75” which puts a little bit more stress on wheel bearings and ball joints.

A few things.. First of all, I'm running ProComp 1069's 15x8's w/3.75" BS, -19mm offset (procomp p/n 1069-5873) and they are fine - no rubbing at all AND I am using the "stick-on" wheel balancers, NOT the "clip-on"..

Secondly, one thing you MUST KNOW - and I say this because nobody warned me before getting 15's - if you ever want to upgrade your Tie Rod, you will have limited options with 15" wheels (unless you use stock/oem tie rod ends). I tried to install the Currie HD Steering Kit and it didn't fit - the tie rod ends dug into the wheels. Currie didn't warn me because they never tested their product with 15's and according to Currie "NOBODY runs 15's on a JK".. Currie also wouldn't accept the return. Ha! Anyway, just something to keep in mind..

Finally, there is a thread that has a very useful matrix outlining Jeep and wheel combinations (what fits and what rubs) - see thread link below...

Here they are in action, on my Rubicon, on the Rubicon Trail: (yep, that's mah pucker face)

15's definitely fit... especially with 3.75 back spacing. i have the procomp soft 8 with 3.75 and no rubbing. guys at 4wp said it rubbed... took it home and measured and it didn't rub... they mistook the chipped paint from mounting it for scraping...

Funny the guys at 4wp in Sac refuse to sell 15"s on a Jk because they say they don't allow the breaks enough air and overheat...I called Bs right away lol
