35" tires with stock gearing

So looking to put 35" tire on the jeep this summer with my stock gearing (3.73), now my question is will this totally destroy my gears by the end of summer, i already plan on switching my gears out for some 4.88 or 5.13 over the winter time anyways. Ive read on jeepforum bc i couldnt find it on here that i should be OK but stuff over thier seems sketchy so i figured id just ask here. I plan on doing a little offroading but nothing extreme just moderate.

I've been running 37's with my 3.73's for about 2 years now and I haven't had any issues. MPG in town is around 13 and on long highway trips it goes up to 16/17 (65 mph)
I am putting arbs and 5.13's in a week, I will post if I find anything weird with the gears once they get pulled.

It does great, I run black at rausch creek all day. Lots of left foot breaking to crawl on rocks.

I ran heavy 35's on 3.73s with an auto for 2 years, and it was OK. Just turn OD off when on the highway, and it goes. I just finally regeared to 5.13s, and its totally worth it, got the low end power back and keeps speed on the highway with OD on..look forward to going to 37s when these 35's die in a year!

Gus
I bought my jk rubicon with 35"s on it. When I measured them for my AEV procal module, it turns out there only 33 3/4". What I'm wondering is ( depending on how I drive them ), can I run 37"s ? With out braking axles. I would run the narrowest 37"s I can find. So that there's not as much tread locking up. Rite now my JK is 90% street and 10% off road. Like a weekend worrier.
Any advice would be helpful!

Your gears will be fine. This is what many folks have done here.

Take it the trail and rock it!

Sahara came with 4.10 in 07 only. 08 forward Sahara came with 3.73 unless special ordered. Rubicon is the only one that comes factory with 4.10. We have 3 Saharas an 07 with 4.10, an 08 with 3.73, an 09 with 3.73.

I hate my 3.73's and 35's. On the trail I have to leave a huge gap or ride the clutch so I'm not hitting the guy in front of me. My other rig has 4.88s and it is much nicer on the trail. Also I find myself downshifting a lot on hills. I think at one point I had to drop down to 4th to maintain speed on the way up to Rausch last weekend.

You are asking the wrong question.

Your question should be 'will this totally destroy any part of my driveline to include transmission by the end of summer?'.

IMO, the answer is 'possibly, but probably not'. Other people that have chimed in are either a) lucky, b) not hard-wheelers and/or c) quickly accelerating the timeline in which to replace the driveline components. C is pretty much a given. You just have to hope to be A and choose to be a B.

Remember, you are dealing with an increase in probability. There is no black and white with this issue. Too many variables. Just know that the bigger you go, the bigger your chance of breaking stuff. There are no numbers attached to this math either, at least from a non-Jeep-engineer standpoint. If you are not prepared to possibly deal with the consequences, stick with stock until you re-gear. If you can afford it, by all means, play the odds and stick those babies on there. As you can tell, many have and are fine (for now).

3.21 was standard on the X with 6spd Manual. An option on the Sahara with 6spd.

Ok, I admittedly don't know much about gearing but why would you opt for 3.21? Aren't they the least desirable?

Least desirable if your intention is to mod. However, the combination of the smaller 16" wheels, 3.21 gears, and 6spd is probably the most fuel efficient package.
