Angry Some douche left his lit cigarette on my soft top...

Last Friday was really nice here in North Jersey so I stripped the windows and drove with just my top. I guess that bothered some a-hole so he decided to leave his lit cigarette on my soft top so it could burn a nice hole through the vinyl.

I'm thinking of using some black silicone to repair the burn since the fabric seems ok. Any better suggestions?

Maybe start shooting smokers?

If it's the sail cloth material, you can get it at a few places. Patch that puppy top & bottom, seal it up and call it a day.

That sucks man i feel you pain. Some smoking asshat put a lit cig on the plastic part on my silverados bumper and it melted the hell out of it. I tore a whole in mine and used a bike tube patch and its seems to be holding up fine

Comprehensive claim? What's your deductible?

Nah, not going through insurance. I'll just patch it up and maybe someday I'll replace the whole top.

Yeah, but if you claim it with your insurance, then you could patch it and use the $ toward something else for the Jeep.

Comprehensive claim shouldn't affect your rates.

I just love it when I'm riding my bike down the interstate and some asshole in front of me pitches his butt out the window.

Damn E-Jeep, I love that term... Jackassery! I hope you don't mind if I steal it and use it. There is a ton of it going on around me.

By the way Covenant, I'm sorry to hear about your soft top. That really does suck. Apparently there is a lot of Douchery also taking place.

I feel your pain. Or they decide to dump their soft drink out the window while I'm right behind them. That really pisses me off.

This! I ride up next to them usually and raise a bird! They're usually too dim to even know why I'm pissed at them.

If I were a cop, my number one priority would be busting people littering. I think if someone lacks the morals of not littering then they will/have probably committed far worse crimes

Since littering fines are usually greater than speeding tickets (except in extreme cases) I would think it should make more sense for the highway patrol to pull over people throwing shit out their windows. And if, as they claim, their purpose is to get people to slow down, this would be served as well since everybody seems to slow down whenever the cops have somebody pulled over, The other drivers don't know why the cop pulled the person over.

I've got black Gorilla tape on mine. I need to find something a little more permanent.

I thought about the inner-tube patch, but figured the sun would break that down in no time. Gore-Tex patch? Hmmm, never thought about that one. I'll have to see where I can find one. Camping store maybe? Any other options?

Since my Held gloves have carbon fiber knuckles, I find a quick rap on their window usually gets their attention pretty well....

After which I use a generous application of throttle - best not to give them time to recover from the shock and realize they're in a 5000 lb car/suv/minivan and you're on a 500 lb bike...

I got mine at REI. It held up pretty good in the Texas heat last summer. I figure if it ever comes loose, I'll just iron on another one.
