Cobra 75 issue.....

Has anyone had an issue where your Cobra 75 worked fine one day and the next it will not even turn on?

I have mine powered through the sPOD.....circuit/fuse is fine and power is going to the switch as well. Any suggestions?

I have a 75. I've heard that they sometimes just crap out. I would check the output (where you hook the radio up) of the junction box and make sure it is still getting power, then work backwards.

yeah, same here! first the speaker went on us, and shortly after the mic went. Bought a new one, since they arent "very" expensive and now it runs great!

they are not good quality radios. I installed 1 in my TJ and one in my JK and both died within a year. Dust kills them.

Had a 75. They are junk. First range was about 1mile. Then speaker would go in and out not working half the time. Bought new external speaker. Then range seemed to trickle lower and lower. On the trail the jeep in front of me could not hear me but I could hear them. Ripped it out with frustration. Bought a cobra 18 I think that's what it is. The radio I was first thinking of buying. 48 bucks. Works great. Don't waste the money on the cobra 75. The compact setup would be great if it would work.

Cobra 75 sucks I've never seen one that worked right.

I run a cobra 25 mounted above my radio on top of the dash.

Damn. This is not a thread I wanted to see. I installed my 75 yesterday.

Is this usually an issue with the handset or the junction box? The way I installed the junction box is going to be a bitch to undo.

Cobra has replaced this one already....first issue was the rubber on the coil windings for the handset split from to bottom breaking off in pieces. It's not cold here and doesn't get extremely hot here so shouldn't have been an issue.

Will dig into it in a little bit and see what is going on because I have had it hooked up now for about 6 months this way with no issues and all of a sudden it will not power on.

Thanks for the input and will keep yall posted.

This sucks to hear, I really liked the idea of this CB. Clean and simple to install, guess Ill have to go another route. Anyone have anything good to say about theres? Seems a little pricey to have to replace every 6 months

You will have goods and bads from any one you talk to. I have had mine for about 2 years and all is well with it. Never had an issue, range is shorter than most others on the market but for trail use it is great. The size is good for the limited space in the JK upfront. I will say that if I had to do it again I would buy the same CB. However, If I had the problems with this one that you all are speaking of, never again would I get one.

i've had mine over 5 years, no issues at all....

In 2009 a crack commando wheelin' unit was sent to prison by a military court for a crime they didn't commit. These men promptly escaped from a maximum security stockade to the South Florida underground. Today, still wanted by the government, they survive as wheelers of fortune. If you have a problem. If no one else can help. And if you can find them. Maybe you can wheel with The 50/50 Off-Road Team.

And its worth saying that since mine was replaced I haven't had any issues either. Had it now for about 2 years.
