Cold air intake

Are these really worth the money, or should I just do a k&N drop in filter? I am hearing people say the 3.8 is what it is, and not a lot of power to be gained.

unless you plan on being strictly street stick with the stock intake not worth the money in power gains and the filters let in alot of fine dust. Also the K&N filters are in my opinion street use only to they don't filter as well as the cotton stock filters when it comes to fine dust. Ask me how I know and ill tell you dirty my intake plenum was.

Iv had my k and n drop in since I got my jeep. I think its an improvment over stock and as long as you clean it an oil it iv never seen the slightest trace of dust on the other side of my filter and I drive on very dusty trails and with the ram air snorkel it takes in a lot of dirt.

I use a K&N drop in too... I actually picked up a second one, so when I clean one I can pop in the other right away and don't have to wait for the drying time.

I have a CAI with no problems...i bought a cheap one off ebay.
I have been headlight deep in water and didn't suck any in.
I'm also cautious around water, i don't haul off in it full speed trying to hydro lock my jeep.
ALSO i put a dust sock over the filter to help keep it a little cleaner.

I didn't notice any difference with the K&N other than hassle of oil. I removed it after about 48k miles and bought a plain filter. Couldn't tell you about gas mileage or performance increase as Georgia went to 10% ethanol and we and lost a solid 2mpg just before we got the K&N.

The Clam got this drop-in. It's water washable, I'll probably get it eventually...

I also have the AFE dry filter. It is re-useable and cleans up with water and mild soap. It has a good seal with the factory air box, in fact, it is hard to latch the cover on mine now.
