hypothetically...

So lets say im interested in buying another rig, now i want to know which is the best route...buy a Rubicon, or buy a bare bones X? Now the only reason id want the rubicon is for the D44's so that said, how much would it cost to get two D44's, sleeved, gussets, E-lockers and so on for the X? if i can save 15k-20k and not buy a Rubicon, is it worth all that work in the long run?

I'd say there's an equal number of people on both sides of the argument;

Purely my $.02;

If you want the simplicity of a "turn-key" rig with some other basic off-roading goodies (lockers, lower crawl gears, etc), but still have a DD, then get a Rubi.

However if you are buying this rig as a project build and not in a hurry to get it on the trail, then get the bare bones and take your time to build it to your desired specs with your favorite gear.

...you can get a Dynatrac ProRock D44 for about $2k from Poly. Sometimes you can get a good deal on a used Rubi D44 front. There's also installation costs and lockers.

Cheers ...

IMO, get the price on a 2DR Rubi and a 2DR X, I think with the money you save you can definitely upgrade the X with better components than that of a stock Rubi.

On some other thread around here, me and 2k2wranglerx were comparing the cost differences and based on brand new MSRPs there was only like a $7,500 difference but if you are saying you can save 15-20k(HOW?????) then def dont get a Rubi

15k-20k more for a rubicon? I don't expect everyone to get the same deal I did, but hell my bare bones rubicon was 21 off the lot.

Work a deal on a rubicon and x and see where you stand. Sticker on mine was 32k which is crap or a real comparisons.
