Question Drake Off Road Hood Hold Downs

Does anyone have these? Are they better than the stock hold downs?

They are very easy to make a homebrew set for like 25 bucks at your local hardware store

A wad of chewing gum is better than the stock hold-downs!

I agree with Dirty though. Get a set of the Daystars and save some cash. I've had the Daystars for about 2 years and running great. No more hood flutter. However, if you have the cash and want to stimulate the economy, then these look really cool.

They'll allow the hood to flutter violently in a good head wind/ semi passing. If you haven't had it, you will.

Almost shit yourself? I had to make a stop at wal-mart after it happened to me! I was door-less and topless on the interstate doing about 70! The truck passed me like I was standing still.... It's a life changing experience! Lol

I just took the hood spring out and it's been fine.

I have them and love 'em. Totally cured the evil hood flutter. Stock rubber crap should be illegal.

After I put my XRC bumper on, my hood never fluttered again. In fact, I put the spring back in after 2 years. I think it's either got something to do with the weight of the front end changing or that the angle of the bottom of the bumper doesn't allow wind to come up through the engine compartment as much.
Who knows...

I have these, imo they look sweet (with so much black on a truck a little billet looks nice), stop hood flutter, and drake is a great company. I say this after first hand communication.

There was an issue with corrosion and they found one of their vendors wasn't suppling the correct grade stainless steel. They offered replacements for FREE. Addtionally, when I asked how to send back the old ones they told me to just make sure they 'never see them again'.
