Hot oil Light came on

hey all
so this weekend while wheeling, the hot oil light came on. I'm pretty sure I know what was the cause but I wanted to see what you all thought. Here's the details:
-Was going up a long climb in 4HI, 1st gear
-Yeah, I was pushing it hard on the skinny pedal
-Also had the recycle air on as it was super dusty (no AC though)
-It's a 2009 JKUR, automatic transmission, with a tranny cooler

Hot oil light came on at the mid point of the climb, so I pulled over and waited for a couple minutes. Friend suggested that I put in in 4Lo, 1st gear. That seemed to take care of it but like I said, I want to see what you all thought.

Shearing of the fluid in the slipping torque converter is what generates most of the heat in an automatic transmission.

Up hill in 4hi will generate a lot more heat than up hill in 4lo.

fwiw (& I run a large aux tranny cooler on my Auto slushbox JKU) , I rarely if ever use 4Hi ...if so itís for brief spells in say ice on gravel or were I to cut across a flat grassy or corn field for a min or two.
I use 4lo so the TC is doing itís thing , especially up hill climbs ...

BnM 70264 is what I used on my '09 Rubi in 2016. Probably wont overheat in 4Hi now but I avoid using it for climbing. I also re-geared for 35's.
