Is it bad that I've put over $40,000 into my '08 JKU?

In gasoline.

So, with over 216,000 miles, at about 16 MPG, I've put 13,500 gallons of gas into my tank. At about $3.00 a gallon, that's $40,500 in gas. Damn.

huh lets see what I have put in my F250...

somewhere around $50,000. That's insane, I never really thought of it like that. The original sticker price was about $20,000.

My 2008 has about 24,000 miles on it but I've easily wrapped up over $40,000 in a lifetime of bad decisions so I guess we're even.

Poly Performance - Dynatrac - Currie - Goodyear - Poison Spyder - Warn - PSC - AEV - Reid Racing - Off-Road Evolution - Flowmaster - Delta - Riddler - Micky Thompson - Daystar - Skid Row - Uniden - Rebel Offroad - Firestik - Warrior Products - Viair - HiLift - ARB - Kicker - Infinity

I'm pretty tempted to regurgitate the old adage,"if you have to ask if something is too great of a financial burden ,it's very-likely you cannot afford to be doin' whatever it is in the first place."

but that might be douchebaggish ,if-not socially uncouth.

so, I'll be polite & suggest that it'd cook-down to whether-or-not where ya actually 'got-to' during those 215-plus thousand miles was worth payin' 40.5 grand for .

Rocks in the treads?
the dead-pieces-of-butterflies collection you've amassed from your grill?

can you place dollar amounts on these?

I am betting YOU can.

(btw: You conveniently left out the cost of the oil used during those miles so yer probably sittin' at more like $54,627.32 spent; FTFY )

Add in the amount of blow off the dead hooker's asses, and the dead hooker before you deaded her, and you're well into 6 figures.

Don't jinx me man! Not sure if 07's had the decal shit above the rear view mirror as mine doesnt, but if it's the OEM windshield I have yet to have that problem! If it's been replaced before,... well I still have yet to have that problem with this one.

Ya'all forgot the $20,000 average that a Jeep owner spends modifying the rig.

And the $10,000 in repairs.

And $10,000 in tires over 100K miles.

Shit, I bet between buying my 2014, modding, fixing and fuel I am around $60,000 to $70,000 into it with 21K miles on it!

Jeffrey,

No worries! I've had many vehicles in my 50 years, but this Jeep is by far my favorite.

i can confirm you're not far off the mark; I
added everything up a year ago and it'll make you sick if you do so ...just avoid looking a yourself in mirror for spending between those two numbers you have listed there.

I keep a detailed Excel spreadsheet of all the items I purchased to modify my bought new '09 JKUR, including shipping & sales tax. At this point it totals over $50,000 net after selling some of the original stuff. But, the real fun starts further down the rows. I keep a list of all the "upgrades to the upgrades" and at this point in terms of cost I've removed more than the original budget for the build. Just Empty Every Pocket? I'd say so....
