Where did you run your winch cables?

I am about to install a winch. (Warn power plant) I'm wondering how others have run the large cables to the winch. Specifically, did you need to run them through one of the grill slots? Because I have a mesh grill I plan to put on to help keep some of the road junk out of the radiator fins. I need to know if I'll have to cut a hole in it first.

Owner 2008 JK Unlimited Rubicon. 3" Poly performance stage 3, 35" BFG KM2s Rock Hard full width bumpers front and rear, My Gig Lock pick, Rear view cam. Been off roading other types of vehicles for about 15 years.

I ran mine up behind the grill, just fed them from the bottom.

through the grille slots and into the engine bay via the top left corner (facing the jeep) of the radiator where there is a place to fish the wires through
