I am close to ordering a 2016 JK Rubicon Unlimited. The OEM tow package is about $450. But I am going to replace the rear bumper with a Smittybilt with tire carrier. The Smittybilt comes with a welded on receiver. So I am not going to include the OEM tow package.
How difficult will it be to wire the new bumper for towing? I used a T-connector on my last truck, and it only took a few minutes to get the tow wiring installed. Does the JK have similar 'plug-together' wiring that can be tapped with a T-connector? Will a T-connector cause a wiring/power problem with the JK?

Its very easy. Quadratec has the harness for $25 bucks. You unscrew the the driver's side tail light assembly and its all plug and play.
