Ram 3.6 vs jeep 3.6

So I just got a 2015 ram 3.6 v6 ram rental and for a 6 cyl it's a beast night and day differance from my 14 rubicon... my question is what is the differance? Just a tune? Or are there more differances just wonder if anyone knew...

Did the Ram have the 8 speed auto?

You also need to know what the gear ratio was in the axles. THe 8 speed auto and axle ratio will make a huge difference in felt power.

It does have the 8 speed. Not sure the rear axle ratio. But I would assume. Numerically low. 3.21 maybe 3.73. But the actual hp output is higher. The jeep 3.6 is rated at 285 and the one in the ram is rated at 305.

What your feeling is the 8 speed not the slight difference in power.

I know i'm going to catch shit for this, but, I have been agonizing over the urge of selling the Jeep and buying a Dodge Ram. I really want a 1500 Rebel Edition. The Jeep is just not getting wheeled and I would love to have the utility of a quad cab truck being a home owner now.

No reason you can not have both.

My wife has a pick up and I have a jeep. Last October when she was pushing me to get rid of the 6 spd Rubicon and go to an Auto I tried to push back with her replacing the truck with another Wrangler. Well as I put my foot my foot down and said WOMAN, I am now driving a 2014 Auto Rubicon and her truck is still in the Garage.........

Wouldn't make sense for her to get a vehicle that gets about the same mileage as mine. She has a '13 Mazda CX that gets 32+ mpg average. The Jeep is so impractical and I get tired of hooking up my trailer and taking the lid off to pick stuff up with the JK. I cannot afford three auto loans. Not sure what i'm going to do at this point, but I have a feeling that if I sit down in that Rebel with a 5.7l I am not going to want to give it back.

The Rebel is nice and all, but it's all trim to make it look cool. Get a Raptor.

I like the Raptor, but, it's way overpriced for what you get. I could take the 20k difference in sticker and make the Rebel competetive in performance over time.

Like I stated, not sure what I want to do. I just know that a truck would really be nice for the type of things we want to do in the future. (Boat, camping with a real camping trailer, quads, etc.) The Jeep does well offroading, but, I am starting to see that I might need more.

Wait till you have one of the vehicles paid off and buy the truck. Keep the Jeep. In the mean time.............don't go sit in the Rebel.

Gahhh-bless-it, I would love that beast! Reality is that when I build and price a 1500 Lariat or SLT with 4wd and a decent amount of options, my asshole puckers up and my wallet shoots out of my back pocket and hides from me. That fucker is in the late 60's or early 70's for sure.

I just dumped my 2014 ram quad cab, hemi, 8 speed and got a jku rubicon. The 8 speed was great......when it worked. It got stuck in gear 3 times (4th, 6th, and 4th again) and wouldn't shift. Had it for 1 year, 14,000 miles and 4 dealer visits. My new Rubi now has 3,000 and I'm so glad I made the move. My last jeep was an 83 CJ7 (6 inch lift and 35's) and wow what a difference. Can't wait to lift the Rubi and put on some 35's.
