Jw speaker

I am looking at getting JW speaker headlights. I live in Ontario Canada where we get snow. For those that do actually have them. How do you find them for icing up?

In the cold dry snow they're fine. In the wet sticky stuff is when it becomes a problem. It still puts out light but output will decrease when it's really coming down. Doesn't bother me much, I just look at it as an opportunity to pull off the road and get a coffee, clean the lights and motor on.

The heated TLs are a good option but I personally hated the beam pattern so I returned mine and got the JWS, which are based on the newest photometric pattern and much cleaner. They do fine in the dry cold but very wet snow and sleet on the highway will have them icing up so you can do a couple of things- I put a few layers of Klasse polish and sealant on them...makes them really slick and ice does not build up much at all. Wax will not help as much nor will Plexus. Wax wears off fast. The synthetic sealants are better.

Another cheap trick- wipe them with a light layer of olive oil or vegetable oil - we do that with our snow shovels to stop snow/ice from sticking to them. Nothing sticks to them all season. Just some helpful hints. I have not had to use the oil option yet but I will carry a paper towel soaked in oil in a ziploc this winter when I go on trips in snowstorms.
