Howdy!!! I've got some agribusiness interests adjacent to the Texas-Mexico border and I'm always apprehensive about theft, be it one of my Dodge 3500's, new Jeep, livestock trailers, etc., etc.. Lost a great '72 FJ-40 about 5 years ago; last we heard it was in Mexico and their "law" wouldn't do a damn thing about retrieving it.........B******S!!!

Bastards should be neutered if nothing else... Wish they had more info in the article like how the thieves are getting the Jeeps -- towing, driving, etc. How easy are the ignitions with the transponder keys to get around?

Maybe I can work in a 'this vehicle will self destruction in ...' sequence into the MyGig.

Actually, it is! His business in South Texas...is covered by Texas Castle Laws. All he needs is a reasonable expectation that he will not recover his property...and considering the circumstances, that's a no-brainer...so, if he catches them in the act, open fire and wipe 'em out. Bullet holes in the vehicle can be repaired, and all the blood/meat can be cleaned out.

Texas allows it's residents to protect themselves and property.

The security issues along the border continue to deteriorate at an alarming rate. We remain armed all the time (day and/or night) we're working, considering how brazenly violent the illegals and drug runners have become. The Texas Castle Laws are a citizens best friend.

Do you have your Class 3 so you can carry/use full auto?

If I lived down there or had business to protect, I'd probably invest in AR15 shorties for my men...and maybe a few M60's. 10 grand and you'd be pretty well equipped for a small squad.

No class 3 license but I've had my CCW since 1996.

From the Riverside Press Enterprise today:

Rancher's murder linked to drug cartel:
Arizona's attorney general says the killing of a southern Arizona rancher appears to be the work of a scout working for a drug cartel.
Robert Krentz was found shot to death Saturday on his ranch near Douglas.
Attorney General Terry Goddard said Friday that evidence at the scene appears consistent with the known behavior of drug runners working for cartels in Mexico.
Goddard says cartels often place scouts in remote areas to monitor and coordinate the flow of drugs across the border.

Be careful....

No, be armed and trained. As far as I'm concerned, this is a war and Mexico is the enemy. Their government will do nothing to protect the sanctity of our border and the property/lives of our citizens.

It is well within our rights to form citizen militia and protect our nation from foreign invaders.

Better yet, pull out 10% of the deployed troops overseas and setup a warzone along our southern border. Start using the Apache's, M1's, and other assets we pay for against these motherfuckers invading our country and killing our citizens.

Armed and trained is assumed. Careful is another issue.

I only live a half mile from the Cosco in Torrance. My Chevy truck was broken into a couple of miles from this COsco a few months ago.

I was looking at a crime bulletin involving the Jeep thefts. They were all TJ's between 2003 and 2006. 4 have been recovered in So Central LA, the rest are still outstanding. I wonder if the TJ's are easier to steal....

Awh don't worry about it that much. When our socialist president wonder boy makes them all US citizens everything will turn out just fine and they will have more rights than you and I.

All I can say is that people down on this part of the border are beginning to get really pissed off and I foresee some of these ranchers raising their own small armies errrr security services.

Other than the costs involved, why not just put up a big ass fence? I thought I heard something about that years ago...

I had a hunch that they were TJs (which would be pretty damn easy to steal). I am starting to like the fact that our JKs have the transponder keys more and more. For the exception of some thefts when people leave the keys in the Jeep, I have not heard of a JK being "hot-wired" yet. Guess Ill stop bitching about those expensive new keys now.
