Air conditioning

Anybody add an air conditioning unit to their JK? Don't know if I can go through another humid mid summer wedding with the windows rolled up so my wife's hair doesn't fly all over the place... lol...

This may be a solution... since it is not that hot very often for you.

I think it's a pretty cool idea!

Don't know how accurate this article is, but it sounds legitimate:

http://jeepair.com/faq/why-don-t-you...jeep-wranglers

Basically it states it's a loosing proposition to install A/C in a JK that has never had it.

With that being said, you might want to check with companies that specialize in adding A/C to vintage vehicles. The only company I can think of is Vintage Air at the moment, but I'm sure there are others.

Hope this helps.

I can tell you I did try and see if this could be done, and It would have cost me an arm and a leg no joke.. Some times I do use my home made ac unit like posted above It works but you have to change out the ice, I froze 5 coffee containers and use them for my ice.. I really on need ac like 3 weeks out of the year here in omaha and it gets very hot and sticky..

Yep, both the JK and the JKU base Sport models have an A/C Bypass option. The Sport S package includes a/c. The base JK Willy's Wheeler doesn't include a/c either.

Did you find an AC unit for your JK? I am looking for one as well and my 08 X JK is out of Canada and has no AC either. I spoke with a dealer and he was shocked that it came w/o air, stated the only way to get them w/o air is to order them that way. Is that true and if so I guess I'm curious as too why you would order it that way?
