Llerandi bumpers anyone??

hey. i saw on facebook someone who sells jeep bumpers, its called Llerandi Offroad and its located in Mexico.

https://www.facebook.com/llerandi.offroad?fref=ts

i asked for the price of one of their front bumpers just to have a comparison, and they quoted methe equivalent to $2650 USD. i almost fell on my back.

its a nice bumper, but its still a piece of welded metal. i asked what made it so special, and they replied "its the best bumper in the world", but without telling me why they are claiming that. im still not sure what makes it so special to cost 5 times more than a known company.

maybe it's made of Adamantium with platinum shackles and a small donkey hooked up to the steering linkages to pull whichever way you steer it for assistance ?
maybe you got the quoted price in Pesos?

yes, i was quoted in pesos... $40,000 pesos, at $15 pesos per dollar, it makes it a little more than $2650 USD

You should have bullshitted them and told them that with current exchange rates that they would have to send you the bumper and 50 US dollars to take it off their hands.

Seems legit .

Llerandi:
  • buys it (let's say from Quadratec for about $1500)
  • pays shipping and customs to get it to his shop
  • charges suckers (with no Jeep knowledge or internet access) most of $1000 pure profit
  • laughs until he pisses himself
  • kicks a puppy (just because he's a dick)
  • takes the week off
Hell, his scam's even legal. I wish I had no conscience.

He's doing nothing "wrong", but he deserves to have no business.

hahahha, my thoughts exactly....

besides, our back and forth emails are more or less like this:

me: good night, im intrested in the front bumper you have in your facebook page, can you tell me which one is it and send me a quote?

him: good night. the front bumper is $40,000 pesos plus tax (about $2650)

me (thinking he quoted in Pesos from a southern country, Guatemala or i dont know where): what brand is it, and where are you from??

him: the brand is Llerandi, and we are located in Puebla Mexico.

me (after the initial shock had passed): $40,000 for a front bumper?!?! they look really nice, but what makes them so expensive compared to other bumpers??

him: these are the best bumpers in the world. this is the most well know brand in the world and is made for customers with high purchasing power. maybe you can get something within your budget in the local market. it will never have the quality of these bumpers, but its something you could get.

me: what makes a Llerandi bumper the best in the world?? i had never heard of that brand. is it mexican??

him: its an american brand, but unfortunately we cannot give you the name, since you are not intrested in them because of the high price. maybe in the jeep world you know this is not a known brand, but internationally, it is the best.

me (by know i already knew it was a FabFours): and what does the price has to do with you telling me which one is it?? anyways, i already know its a FabFours bumper, i dont know why you told me it was Llerandi, when it obviously is an american brand you just import. and BTW its worth $1500 in the US, against the $2600 you want for one.

him: unfortunately i still think its not within your budget, without mentioning you have to pay a lot of taxes to get it from the US.

i dont know how someone can determine the economic position of another person, just because he thinks $2600 for a bumper is waaay overpriced. besides, not because i CAN it means i WILL pay for something so overpriced....
