Smitty MOD Thoughts

I am curious if anyone is running the Smittybilt MOD bumper with the V2 end caps. I like the look but would like to know how sturdy the end caps really are or how well attached they are. I don't want the end cap to come off or flex if I am standing on it. If you have one, I would appreciate your thoughts on it.

Thanks

I wouldn't waste my money on their bumpers.

Not sure which ends you mean, but I have the mid width ends. They seem sturdy enough, but I'm sure they would bend if you smacked something. Everyone bashes the Smitty stuff, but mine have been on for a couple of years with no issues. I was rear ended a couple of weeks ago and the bumper doesn't show any signs of it. The dizwiz in the FJ that hit me was going about 45 and never touched her brakes.

I had the MOD bumper on for a while (no end caps just used the stainless covers that came with it). It's easy to mount and does a great job of protecting the electric sway disconnect if you have a Rubicon. I had no issue with the bumper other than wanting something that sat high and tight on the front of my Jeep.

Smitty's stuff maybe made in China but it's usually pretty stout stuff. Sorta of similar to Assfrow, years ago I had a Smitty rear tube bumper on my 87 4Runner that mauled the front of pickup that rear-ended me and just left a scratch on my bumper.

I like mine

I modded it to make it grille width and clear my tires with low lift. (The "rock crawler" end caps do require some grinding to get to fit.)

Looks good! My opinion only and my personal taste but I'd do something about those Dumbo ears as well.
