2011 thru 2013 Recall information (heated mirrors) Update

I haven't seen this posted yet. I finally got an update on the recall for the 2011-2013 heated/power mirrors. (P61/NHTSA 14V-631)

Jeep now has a fix for it.

QUOTE:
FCA will repair your vehicle free of charge (parts and labor). To do this, your dealer will relocate the power feed electrical terminal for the heated power mirrors to a separate electrical connector and add a water shield. The work will take about 1 1/2 hours to complete. However, additional time may be necessary depending on service schedules
END QUOTE

*BUMPing this subject back into the land of the Active Posts so I can see if any of you folks that have this applicable to your year JK/JKU, are you taking them in to have this done? Is it not something I can fix myself ? I only mention since FCA has my wifes number instead of mine & she is sick of hearing them call as well as send letters ; I do not know if I can tolerate taking it to some dealership just for some insulation or rewiring that I can do.

is everyone taking them in to have this stupid cr*p fixed?

of course, I could just remove them and put delete plates then some of the trail mirrors I want installed ...

the passenger side housing on that side mirror is busted anyway from a rock

<edit: bwah-ha-HA ... I loves me some Internetz....

self repair basically requires whatever you choose to crimp wire with.
and this . It appears I am just talking away to myself and answering my own posts on a Friday evening.

You should have made another post answering yourself and speaking in the third person.

I took mine in. In order for them to get that mirror off, they have to take the door panel off. F-That noise. My buddy works at the dealership where they did it, he said they rewire and add a little splash shield thing to it. It books for like 2 hours... they did it in less time.

Now, if they would only recall that STUPID clockspring for the 2011's....
