Couple of issues-- need some ideas

On my new Unlimited Wrangler I am having couple of issues,
1. It's a 6 spd manual and the shift lever rattles pretty bad in 3rd gear.

2. There is loud pop noise comes when you pull on hand brake.

Any ideas or feedback will be greatly appreciated.

Thanks

1. Normal - JK manual is a loud rattling beast. Mines rattled since new and I know many others do too.
2. Normal - the linkage at the axle side connects via metal rings that hang fairly loose. When tension is applied the metal can pop together in place

I've had two manual JKs...both are normal.

Had dealer look at the tranny and hand brake.
Hand brake is fixed, they said they had to lubricate it and sure enough pop is gone.
Rattle on the gear shift lever in 3rd gear, dealer acknowledged is abnormal and annoying. They said they see it vibrating where it's attached to transmission, they opened a STAR case, will call me once they hear back from Chrysler.

Thanks

Does your "fixed" parking break still hold you rig in place as good as it use to?

Not saying they didnt...
Just that the parking breaks on these JKs suck
and if they lossened it to get rid of the pop it may not hold as well as it once did..

Yes, it holds like before. I never pull it too much, maybe half way or so.

Thanks

They replaced the shifter assembly when mine had like 5k miles. It was quiet for about a month until it started rattling again. Granted it's not noticable unless the radio is off.

I just put a couple metal key rings around my shifter for x-mas and it sounds like jingle bells

I have a '14 with a 6-speed and it has rattled in 3rd since I brought it home last year. The parking brake started doing the pop thing a couple months ago. It sounds and feels like it is a detent jumping off the teeth. When it pops I drop it down and engage it again. This seems to work.

Maybe if something else goes wrong I will mention it when its at the dealership, but otherwise I ignore it. Most of the time I don't hear the shifter anyways since I am going deaf!

It definitely has something's about it. It only make rattle noise when tranny gets to temp. It doesn't do it in the morning when it's cold.
It is annoying as I come thru downtown in my city and 3rd is the ideal gear for it, so I notice it.
Dealer did say don't worry they will fix the issue.....well let's say what Chrysler says.

Thanks

When i put the e-brake on, I like to hold the button down pulling slowly until i feel the proper tension.. then release the button..pull one click up.

I tested the "proper tension" rolling down my driveway. I think i can feel the point where it pops halfway through the pull... when i do this it doesnt pop, when i pull up without holding the button it pops every once and again...

.... i keep a wedge of fire wood that fits behind the tire just right! ya know for those real hairy parking jobs. I cant wait for my JK to be 35 years old... its gunna be good times..

Dealer called and wants me to drop it off, I set up the appointment for 30th. This is for the shift lever rattle. They said they will try to fix it because it is not normal. I'll keep you guys posted on the progress.

Thanks
Guls
