Manual Tranny issues with 5th and 6th

I tried a search first but didn't come across anything specific to my problem.

On occasion, I can't shift into 5th or 6th gear (manual tansmission, 2007 JK 4 door). I'll be driving on the highway in 5th or 6th. When I pull off onto the ramp or have to slow down because of traffic and downshift, then when I try shifting back to 5th or 6th it will not pop in. It just won't go in for 5th and when I try 6th, it feels and sounds like I'm trying to go into reverse because the tranny starts grinding.

It's almost like the linkage is not right or something, but I can go into 1 - 4 just fine.

Any help or ideas would be appreciated.

Thanks.

How many miles are on it? When was the last time you changed your fluid?

Had that problem with 1st gear and the 1st gear syncro was bad, plus fluid change helped out over all. my .02
