3.6 damn, everyone's hating on the 3.8.

Might be time to trade this pig in.

I'll bet it will work good if Edelbrock sells it. All the combinations I've ever worked with in their kits was excellent. Meaning heads, cam and intake ste ups. they back up their parts as well.

Can't really tell in the pic but it looks like they made their own manifold and do not require going to an after market oil filter.

that's pretty impressive numbers if it will actually make that much.

only thing that scares me about a SC is all the ones you can see installed on the vehicles waiting to get a v8 swap at motech...

I'm wondering if/when there will be other engine parts available. Like cams, possibly headwork (which is always possible at a machine shop/engine shop), maybe even an upgrade to the stock pipes coming off the engine or something!

The engine is used in so much. Not only wranglers! But challengers/chargers/rams!

If you're talking about headers, it ain't gonna happen. The exhaust manifolds are integral to the heads on the 3.6.

The article said it didn't require any oiling modifications.

Well I can see how some vendors would consider a couple of stacked Harley filter screens as perfectly suitable oem replacement filter that requires no "oil modifications."

Correct. I was talking about some sort of possible exhaust upgrade to those pipes coming off the heads. Thats why I said pipes and not headers.

Article title says 427 hp and in the article it says north of 400 hp. I have 7 psi with the magnacharger which also used the 1320 and am at 337 at the wheels. Depending on what the actual drivetrain loss is thats somewhere around 400 at the crank.

I wonder if there is something different about this kit that might make slightly more power. Better intercooler or intake manifold maybe

Curious about their tuning solution, especially if its a Magnusson based kit. From other forums, it sounds like Magnuson doesn't quite have it figured out yet, particularly with automatic transmissions.

Someone even said they temporarily stopped selling the kit until they could fix it. That was around June or July if I remember correctly.

I would love to see a supercharger kit that had good driving manners. From what I've been able to find by scrubbing this and other forums, it seems all of the superchargers currently on the market are plagued by poor tuning. I'm not sure why Chrysler chose to make the engine and transmission so difficult to tune. I'm leaning towards a Motech LS transplant, but would love to save 15-20k and get a decent supercharger for my 3.6.

I'd just love to have that 3.6 (and the attached 5spd auto) in my JK. I've driven them and they are night and day better than the 3.8 and 42RLE in my 2008. And I also wish the tuning issues would get resolved as a super charger is a lot cheaper option than a V8 swap.

Meh, with proper gearing the 3.8 does fine in a 6 speed 2 door - much better than a 4 cyl TJ, not much worse than a 4.0 TJ.

The slushbox that came with the 3.8 is atrocious, and a 3.8 auto. 4 dr w/ shitty diff. ratios is like a turtle on Quaaludes stampeding through peanut butter.

Seems that the more Suburban-like a JK becomes, the more it needs an LS just to push it around.

Mine is an auto. I'm running 5.38's with 37's. Honestly it drove better on the highway with the stock 4.10's and 35's. Why? Because I just turned off OD and cruised around at 2800-3000 rpm maintaining the speed limit with no shifting. Now if I were to do that I'd be running 3800rpm at 75mph, so I'm back at the whole upshift/downshift game the entire time I'm on the interstate, or sit in 3rd at 60-65mph and get passed by truckers. And with the 5.38's its still gutless around town too. I should have only gone to 4.88's so that I could still just drive it like a 3spd.

And I agree, the 4dr JK is pretty massive and heavy. It also has the worst power to weight ratio between the XJ, ZJ, and itself by a pretty big margin. With the 6spd manual it is probably a lot more manageable, plus the super charger tuning isn't as critical. With the automatic its just sad and apparently the super charger tuning sucks. I'd honestly be happy with just a 4.7L and 545RFE compared to the gutless drivetrain I've got now.

I find my supercharged 3.6 to be very streetable and reliable. My wife drives it as much as I do. And she learned how to drive a manual with it.

I even just installed a custom made 63mm pulley and make 9 psi now.
