N28 Recall

I just got a notice about a Recall on the transmission oil cooler tube on my Jeep may come in contact with the power steering fluid return line and that over time May cause a leak in transmission fluid.

Anyone else got this? Any way to remedy this on your own? My dealers service dept isn't really known for quality work..

I had it done - no issues to report.

I don't think you can do it on your own because the new part is done by VIN and is dealership only (from what I was told).

It took about 4 hours one day at Covert in Austin...

If your dead set on not having it done, just make sure the trans cooler lines and the power steering line are not touching each other. In l/f wheel well in front of the steering box, you can cover the line with a piece of vacuum hose if you want.

I got the notice over a year ago, call the dealer and they told me the hose is on back order. Get the same story every month when I call them

I guess I am going to look at it this weekend. I can't even get them to answer their phone. I'm sure I can manage to keep the two from rubbing each other

I tried three times on my wife's 2012 and gave up, no parts!! I fixed it myself and yesterday after about a year I got a big postcard from Jeep asking me to make an appointment for repair. Maybe they caught up on parts supply. I probably will have them do it to clear the recall list. I'm pretty confident in my repair though in case they have no parts again!!

The situation at my local dealer (last November, I think is when it was) was that Chrysler would send them parts for one jeep. They'd do the fix, report back, and Chrysler would send parts for one jeep. Rinse, repeat. They were getting one vehicle done per week.

They have to do an inspection before they'll book you though.

'12 Sport...I need to up my powerball investments, mods are expensive!
