Anybody heard of or have a winch made by this company? VIPER? A 12,000lb recovery winch for $389.00.

Produced by the China Ningbo Lift Winch Manufacture Co.

Link to the manufactures page for the 12k winch...

You get what you pay for... Personally I'd spend the extra 10 bucks and get a 10K XRC if your on a budget. at least if something foes wrong with it, you have a chance of getting the warranty honored.

Looks like a rebranded Promark (fka Gorilla) with a different remote.

Ebay search for Promark and compare pictures.

JP magazine did a low cost winch comparo a while ago. Promark was one of the ones tested.

The only bad thing they said is when you release the clutch the drum has no friction so the cable tends to unwind into a birds nest.

I'm looking into all these low cost ones, but I keep coming back to the $539 Warn M8000 as a known good unit.

Thanks thats what I was affraid of. I don't need any more china parts. I'm already boycotting Walmart. I'll either keep looking or wait and save some more dough and get better stuff like the Warn.
