Jeeps before Jeeps were cool.

Well maybe not. They were probably cool and I didn't know it. Drove many of these around in South Korea. This picture was taken in 1986. These were our Military Police patrol vehicles. Great in the summer, but cold as hell in the winter. There were many nights that we had to make a call for someone to rescue us from some late night "experimental testing."

Jeeps have come a long ways. What I wouldn't give to have one now.

Same time frame. Live fire M-60 from a moving Jeep. Fun stuff.

Technically, those weren't Jeeps. My dad also drove an M151 while in the Army.

yep I drove one of those all over Germany. Had a blast. I drove for a captain who was an offroad nut.

went through the ice with it once, got buried in the mud so bad it took two 5 tons with winches to get us out, dropped it on it's side twice, even got hit by an M1 tank (took my drivers mirror off) once. crossed the Rhine river with it, without a snorkel kit.

drove a HMMVEE a couple times in Bragg afterwards. between the two I think the Jeep was much more capable. I only got the hummer stuck once but it was a bad one. LOL two LT's and I had to wade out.

BTW Jeeps were definitely cool in 1986, before than I had my room covered in pics of Jeeps from 4 wheel drive magazines.
