I hate being away from home.....

The wife is dealing with a stubborn Jeep. When you open the door the lights won't come on and when she starts it up it won't shift out of park. Since I'm not home I can't really troubleshoot at all. So, she has had to take it to the dealer. The first time they said it was battery terminals so they replaced them. That worked for about a week then it started again. This time they said the shifter cable stretched and was causing the problem so they changed it. That's strike two for the dealer. They call her to pick it up and she can't even shift our of park in their lot! Now they think it is a computer or loose wire. Hopefully they figure something out or it'll have to wait until October when I get home! SUXX!!!

shot in the dark here but would think to look at the sensor that senses if you are on the brake to shift out of park.

I forgot to add that if you disconnect the battery for a couple minutes and hook it back up it works fine. Lights, shifter, everything. They are telling her now that it is the instrument cluster. It'll be 2 weeks before they will be done with that......

They are shooting in the dark. I'd find a new dealership...

I had a car that wouldn't shift out of park when the brake light fuse blew. Worth a check maybe?

She took it to a different mechanic who said it was a module in the cluster. Then she took it to the dealer. They finally said the same thing. She told them what the other Mechanic said but it still took three times before they said something about the cluster. The Mechanic said he couldn't do it because of the programming needed to change out the cluster. I guess we'll see if that fixes it.

My wife picked the Jeep up the other day and says it is running fine again. I guess it was the cluster. At least it seems fixed!
