OE Tire Carrier vs After Market Sway away Tire Carrier

I have 2014 JKU Sahara, installed 2 1/2 teraflex lift and have 35 on all five positions. Currently I have my spare on the OE spare tire carrier which is attached to the tailgate. I am ordering new Barricade Trail Force bumpers and the rear bumper comes either without the spare tire carrier or with a sway a spare tire carrier. Can anybody provide benefits for spending and additional $300.

The original equipment tire carrier was not designed to support a 35" tire. That said there are HD body mounted carriers on the market that work well. If you never go off road it may not be an issue either way.

Yeah I thought the same...............had 35's on stock figured a few months...........nothin radical off road, some fore roads goin campin rest street.............in 3 months taligate rattlin..................all the little spot welds started popping................my opinion ws worth the money for an AEV spare..............mounts to the frame............looks awesome with stock bumpers............go to Trail Concepts website/facebook to look for photos.......good luck but if you plan on keepin the jeep for awhile do it right quick!!

if you like the bumper with the tire carrier then it is worth spending the extra $$$ for the carrier. I didn't like the carrier bumpers so I got one without and got the OR Fab carrier. Either way, I would get that 35 off the stock carrier sooner than later. I had a 33 on ours for about 3 months and was worried

My stock with 35s just did not work well. I ran without a spare for a while. I have an Ace Rear Bumper with Tire Carrier on the way.

that barricade stuff is the exact same as eautogrilles. I have it from eag and its good for the $$....get it on ebay. Extremeterrain is a bunch of bs, selling the same crap for hundreds more. every time I get their catalogues I just laugh.

I had the Ace pro rear bumper with tire carrier till last week. It was a good bumper that will hold a 40 but it is crazy heavy! I switched to the BHF rear bumper with the TF hinge and mount. I shaved 130lbs of weight just in the rear. I also had the Ace stubby up front and it was 106lbs. I switched to the brawler lite. Going from 35s to 37s and changing bumpers i gained about 2.25". Im very happy with my new setup

2011 Wrangler Sport,RK 2.5 X Factor with RRD 2.0 shocks, Synergy steering, Poison Spyder bumpers narrow alum fenders diff covers, LOD sliders, Rockridge 4wd tail lights, trucklites, TF higned tire carrier, Cooper discover STT 37x13.50, 4.56 gears

Ordered a 2015 2 door Rubicon 3-23-15

Send a message via Yahoo to DiscoBayJoe

This is what happens if you wheel with the stock carrier. Ask me how I know.
