Paint just the tub?

So I have a wild hair and want to paint my newly-purchased green Jeep black (it's a long story full of artistic vision, heh), but then I realized with all the aftermarket parts available - hoods, grilles, doors, etc - I'd almost only need to get the tub itself painted.

Now, I could bedline the inside and plastidip the outside, which I am also considering, but hey, how much less than a "full-car paint job" do you think the tub would be? Like, assume a regular, decent paintjob would be $5k on a full vehicle; what would the comparable job on the JK tub be, you think?

Don't worry if you think it's dumb - I have dumb ideas all the time and either I go through with them or I shelve them, depending on the level of success possible =0)

But you could do the plastidip route and if you don't like it just peel it off.

Don't think for a second I haven't put out a couple feelers for that.

Thing is, I like green jeeps just fine. But in terms of "build it into what you want" my ideal for this one is black, I find. It would be less so if the 2010 was Jeep Green rather than the dark Natural Green. My 07 was Jeep Green and I loved it that way.

Right - already have a feeler out for a real coat of PD as well, though my wife is convinced it's going to look like rattlecan crap.

Oh I know it can look good. I use PD all the time in building and painting things around the house. I haven't seen a dipped car in person though, hope to soon.
