Rusty bar behind grill.

Just wondering if anyone else has run into this. It's been awhile since I've looked behind there with the winter we had and the first nice day i noticed it. I want to hand paint it with some por15 since it bugs me being rusty and all out in the open.

Mine was painted from the factory and hasn't rusted. Looks like a QC defect to me. Not so worried about the bar, but I'd check the welds on the frame to see if there's worse rust elsewhere.

Yeah thanks for that. .. it's going into the dealer in a few days for something else. .. I'll see what they say about it and I'll try to get it on a buddies lift to check other spots out.

I just noticed this on my 08 a few weeks ago as well. Right before winter it was nice clean black paint and now it looks about like yours. Noticed my Rubi rails are rust spotting as well. I will probably just hit it with some rust stop and paint it black again when i have my grill off to plasti-dip it.

same here. I was making a list of everything I need to repaint or dip as soon as the weather breaks. And noticed this bar behind the grill.

my rock rails are off being blasted right now ready to paint.

The dealer told me because I've been in there so much lately next time I'm in they will take it off and have the paint shop paint it for me for free

What they meant was, "Since this is less than 3 years old, we know we have to make this right for you ASAP. Thank you for not being pissed about it".

Mine looks like that too. All the Jeeps I've looked at have the same surface rust on that bar. It doesn't hurt anything just looks like crap. I wouldn't even waste my time getting the dealer to paint it for you...in my experience "free" work is always crappy and you end up with something else to fix, like overspray everywhere. I'd just mask it off and hit it with some rustoleum if it bothers you that much.

My jeep is pushing five years old now....and that bar isn't the only thing that's rusting.

My 2010 has the rusted bar too. If I get bored I might hit it with some black rustoleum but I'm not gonna worry about it
